Cromartie High School (TV)

Genres: comedy, slice of life
Themes: delinquents, parody

Plot Summary: Folks, meet Takashi Kamiyama. Enrolled at Cromartie High, where everybody is a delinquent, Kamiyama is apparently the only non-delinquent in the school. Logically, therefore, he must be the toughest in his class - by the rather twisted logic that only a really tough rabbit would lie down with lions. Thus begins a story that parodies every cliché of tough-guy anime that you've ever heard of, and some you haven't. Oh, and Freddie Mercury is in it, too.
----------------------------------
This series is screaming to be on Adult Swim, too bad it is only 11min ea episode. Apprently this is a manga but not done by Ryoichi Ikegami (Crying Freeman) tho it sure looks like it! Anybody know how long the series is going to last? This is about as insane and bizare as guu and super milk-chan.

I haven't seen any of it, but I have heard some promising things. But anime comedy is unlikely to ever end up on Adult Swim.

I've downloaded the first three eps, but haven't watched them yet. The Zac's review made sound good tho.

Well, strictly speaking, Trigun was about half comedy (or 60%) and it was also an action series.

I'll admit to not knowing much about this series. If it does have some action (FLCL isn't really about action, but it's on AS) then there's a chance it could air. But something dedicated to being a comedy is a stretch for an AS run. Although it sounds as if it may be apropos.

(Note, Emerje's post was probably posted in such rapid succession with mine that he had not chance to see it before I posted this)

Comedy is done alot on AS consider Sunday nights line up and their first hour is Family guy/Futurama. Though they are not Animes however I guess the only problem would be. Is anime comedy over the general american audience head?

I watch Excel Saga and like it, but still dont get lot of the jokes in it. Not having a ton of anime experince can sometimes be a negative thing when it comes to some of the comdies that are put out.

The issue is that they are anime comedies. AS has more or less stuck itself to the action category of anime, sneaking through Williams Street favorites like FLCL or action comedies like Lupin III (which flopped anyway )Smile or Trigun. I dont' know if there is a specific contractual restriction on this (which would be a little odd) or something else, but anime comedy has a slim chance of appearing on Adult Swim. It would probably be nice if something could, but given that AS is divided into Comedy and Action, the latter category also effectively doubling as a limiting moniker for 'anime', I wouldn't suggest anyone getting their hopes up.

jeebus!!...this series rocks!!!...it's weird, but it ROCKS!!

ah, if only they made 30 minute episodes of it.......but then again, the references made to the manga and the short episodes give that show an "I don't give a rat's a**" attitude.........

...here's me hoping to see more of Freddy's antics.............
