I thought you were giving up with the trolling on this site Wink

Anyways it's good to see Shaun back on and a British show doing well. Wallace and Gromit was my childhood! Laughing

Though I shouldn't feed the troll, I think I should give you a little bit of food for thought. Naruto is more popular overseas than in Japan. While the manga sells well, other aspects of Naruto do not like DVD sales, games or merchandise. One Piece on the other hand is widely popular in Japan, to a much higher degree. I may hate OP myself, but Naruto is not that great either. Also, One Piece's ratings have gone down over the past 14 years. It used to average like 13% in the Kanto region alone. After Kai left, it was doing like 9s% and stuff. Now, if it gets a 9%, I'm shocked. It generally does 7-8% on average now. Same with Pokemon. It used to get like 16% ratings or something. Now it can barely keep up with Curious George. Even Sazae-san, which did high 20s% on average can barely get a 16% and it didn't even get 16% this time.

Not like ratings is barometer for popularity in Japan. Loads of low rated shows do well in other areas. Sazae-san doesn't even have merch and I blame the creator on that.

I often say things that turn out to be a lie. My very existence is very complex. And even though I ruined everything by admitting being a troll, i just cant go by without writing something that might by any chance piss off at least 1 simple minded human being.
I just hope this power, granted me by the stars and the heaven will never let lose of my soul.

That's because of the declining kids demo in Japan and the greater amount of channels available. You can't compare ratings today and 10 years ago. You have to look at the position of each show in the top 10 : in that department, One Piece has been rather consistent ranking in the top 5 or just outside of it for over 10 years now, however Pokemon has gone from being a consistent top 10 show to not appearing in the ranking at all quite regularly. That's more worrying.

It'll jump back up again once the new games are introduced next month, with the new anime series to go with them. That's how this sort of thing usually goes.

Wouldn't that mean that they are keeping alive a franchise that should have died long ago if they had not pumped money into it that could have been better spent into new games? There is a limit to how long you can keep a corpse fresh Anime hyper

The Pokemon Company and Gamefreak aren't exactly hurting for cash - they're not Google, but they don't exactly have to prioritize.

Naruto isn't such a big deal in Japan as many overseas fans think it is still i don't get these Japan ratings either in my opinion : One Piece Naruto Space Brothers and Titan are by far the best curent airing series still they don't get the ratings they deserve.
They say the Titan anime is such a big deal why haven't i seen it even once in the top 10 list while many of the average shows and ones that aren't even anime get higher up also hunterxhunter is also all over the place with being on the list or not.

I do also recall that the last One Piece special got like a 21 % rating and beat saze-san while this one has only half of that if there is something big out there that would just remotely fit with One Piece i'd say Toei gom for it.
It still kinda makes sense that pepole aren't going to tune in for Toriko like they did with DBKAI i go as far as to say the only reason Toriko is always in the top 10 is because it's with One Piece so in a way Toriko is holding OP down.

But since i really don't care much for Pokemon seeing that go down makes me somewhat happy the first season's had something going for, for what it was worth but it was over the hill years ago they just make stuff up that is like whatever and still pretend that ash is supose to be 10 years old after that many episodes.
Also it used to be that big Worldwide hit but they can't rely on that anymore either since like the past 5 years.

21% ? No way. Even Ghibli movies don't get such high ratings anymore.

It got 11.6% and beat Sazae-san by 0.1% :

Why should it have died? The games are great (some more than others, of course) and they keep introducing new things at each new generation.

Back on topic, it's great that the Merry special did so well... now, if only it was available out of Japan, too... Sad

Have you ever watched any of the Top 4 anime in the rankings? Doraemon and Shin-chan are awesome anime, they are so well done that they are good for any target audience(sex and age related), if I lived in Japan I would definitely watch them, every week,(When they were airing in my country I tried to watch every single episode of them). I only watched one episode of Sazae-san and Chibi Maruko-chan, so my opinion is not well defined, but for what I seen they are as good or more than Doraemon and Shin-chan. They totally deserve the place they are in, don't go judging titles, just because you don't know them.
Other series like Detective Conan, Precure and Toriko are really high quality series and deserve to be in the Top 10.
I would like for One Piece to be higher and for Space Brothers,HunterxHunter and Battleship Yamato 2199 to be regular Top 10 series, but the other anime that don't let that happen are all of exceptional quality, so is understandable.
Naruto anime is really bad, it is a flashback fest! Last two special episodes were 70-80% flashback. And it drags a lot, so is great that it isn't in the Top 10.

About Attack on Titan, it airs in a late time slot, one when parents and children aren't watching television. Obviously because of the gore and violent theme of the series. That makes it automatically loose more or less 2/3 of the audience the other shows potentially have. Obviously it will not make at the Top 10, but for late night shows TV popularity isn't that much important(Someone should make a only late night shows TV ranking). Their popularity is normally seen by the increase in volume sales, DVD/BD sales and other types of merchandising sales numbers.
AoT, because of the anime, each manga volume increased more than 900k(Ao No exorcist and Kuroko no Basket were others manga in which the anime increased a lot the sales and only increased 700k and 400k, respectively). The DVD/BD are selling around 20k and 45k, respectively. Those are outstanding sale numbers and new merchandising is constantly popping up, showing the huge demand.

I have already watched it! Smile, but translated in Portuguese(My first language)! You have to wait a little time for the English translation.

Dubbed or subbed? I can go with either English or Italian subs, as long as they are well done. I prefer to wait more for a higher quality, actually, even if I may sound impatient. Wink
