Comparing this image to the concept image on page 92 of the Complete Book Material side I will say that it is pretty good. The main difference is the top of the wings angle a bit inwards and do not form a straight horizontal line. The triangles in the center are perfect, but the "dragon" is a tad off. The eye circle is a bit too small and the upper nose extends too far compared to the lower jaw. Of course the image here is closer to the concept board artwork than many of the images in the show. Looking at the images from various shots the image does vary. I actually prefer Izumi's tatoo, since I find it a bit more abstract yet elegant. Scar's arm would be truly hardcore. |

Scar's tat would be just nutz! I honestly don't think I could sit that long Also, is there a detailed sketch anywhere of it, since it goes 360degrees? |

Not to chide you or anything, but do you know the meaning behind these symbols? The ouroboros is an ancient symbol used by many different cultures and groups of people, but is probably most prominently found in Hermetic works. Also, the "triangles" in the center are actually a somewhat altered version of the seal of Solomon, also a Hermetic symbol. I really think you should read up on these symbols before you decide to get the ink; ultimately it is your tattoo, by all means get whatever you want, but I think it'd be a good idea to learn the history and meaning of these symbols first (assuming that you don't already. If you do already, sorry.) I've seen up to ep. 24 of FMA, and it basically takes many of the Hermetic symbols and very few of the principles and then (naturally) skews them completely. People don't seem to realize that alchemy, which is a facet of Hermetism, has in fact been practiced by people for centuries, and is still being practiced in present times. And no, alchemy does not deal with the physical transformation of substances. Rather, the seven metals that alchemy concerns itself with are metaphors for varying states of the mind and self, and the transmutations of said metals are also metaphors for the transformation of the mind and self. I need to finish FMA so I can start a thread on this! Anyways, I don't mean to discourage you or criticize you. Just keep all this in mind, as there will be other people who recognize these symbols for what they are outside of FMA. |
