anyone else looking forward to this? any movie that mixes the feel of classic Japanese action movies with anime has to be good.

I think it's a bad idea approaching this film expecting to be pleased as an anime fan.. this is a tribute to grindhouse pictures, very cheap hong kong and chinese action pics that are noted for horrifically bloody violence. He had an anime sequence in there for someone's origin story, but that's it.. this is not an homage to anime or really even influenced by it, so let's not jump to any conclusions.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to please me as an anime fan, it just looks COOL.

(....I'm a woman, seriously)

I would like to see, since I enjoyed some of Tarentino's previous works.

About the anime sequence, the reason it was done was because Tarentino did not want to have the flash back for Lucy Lui's character done by film, was because it was when she was a little girl watchingspoiler[her parents brutal murder], which is supposed to very disturbing, and he did not want to have a real little girl have to watch that, so he opted to animate it.

You'll have to wait until February to see number 3. I've heard there's also a bit more anime in Vol. II as well.

Regardless, it looks hella neat. I'm not expecting another Pulp Fiction, something that still manages to reinvent itself even to this day, but Kill Bill looks to be an incredibly awesome evening's worth of entertainment.

I would if Quentin and Miramaxe weren't sitting on it.

Kuriyama and Chiba have very small parts and this is Kill Bill vol. 1, so Bruce Lee Jr. (I mean David Carradine.) won't get killed until February.

I don't understand why they cast Lucy Liu for a part of someone who's half-Chinese, half-Japanese. But she's Hollywood's token Asian girl, so waddya expect?

Anyway, I won't see Kill Bill, because of http://members.tripod.com/~Kissaki/QT.htm, http://www.impossiblefunky.com/qt/, and http://alliance.hellninjacommando.net/cuts/cityonfire.html.

I can help solve both of those problems for you. but the mods wouldn't like me linking to the "help". though I'm sure you've probably already seen both in their original versions.

p.s. what does Quentin have to do with Avalon?

QT is Miramaxe's bloodhound when it comes to Asian movies to rape. But even if Avalon wasn't one of those movies, the money his and other Weinstein movies makes still go into purchasing them.

Edit: So when you pay for Kill Bill, you've basically made the choice to support a ten minute anime sequence in exchange for Avalon being shelved indefinitely, and Shaolin Soccer and Hero being edited and/or released dubbed only.

That's not the point. Kill Bill's just a collage of wannabe Asian movies, while we're being denied the real thing. If it becomes successful, all you'll get are the knock-offs, while the real deal will keep rotting in Miramaxe's basement. But FYI, Shaolin Soccer appears to be the 10th most downloaded movie online, according to http://wired.com/news/digiwood/0,1412,60511,00.html. Yet Miramaxe still isn't listening. And the worst part is that they stop online dealers from selling legal imports. So what they're saying is, "We decide what you're allowed to see, and if you have to pay twice for it, then so be it!"

The Matrix and LOTR movies were meant to consist of more than one installment, and they're at least 2 hours! Kill Bill was not, and each part is only 90 minutes. And that's how it's going to be released on dvd. Separately. This is all just a money-grab. And Weinstein and Tarantino really believe you're mindless sheep who will see anything of Tarantino's just because he made it. And sadly, that seems to be the case on a lot of sites with Tarantino fans, including the one run by Sell-out Knowles. They think Tarantino's infallible, even though he's really just the sum of other movies. So yeah, you get your ten minute anime sequence, with obligatory cameos of Asian stars. But you also get to see them depicted in the worst possible light, and in the worst roles, while the good stuff continues to collect dust.
