These four I can agree with you on. For Ikki Tosen, I can understand everybody's anger, but c'mon, it's the "art"  It did have some good fights, as well as a storyline that saw its development mature like it was supposed to.
I see nothing wrong with Street Fighter II V. You even get to see Akuma in the background. I've only seen halfway through the series, but this is a great portrayal of two young guys seeking opponents worthy to fight. Not all the characters have come up from the game, but the ones that have been portrayed very well to me for the image I would have of them from the game. I would say that Tsukihime does start off a little slow, but it really does pick up by episode 5. The show got so interesting that I was watching more than what I had planned for originally. Requiem is interesting. I like the weird designs of the homes, environments, and even the characters themselves. Though indeed a bit violent, it does deliver on stories, making you want to watch it more but also kind of get lost on who did what, or what just happened here and there. Very good to see. |

Judging from the encyclopedia entry, one does not need to watch the first Futakoi before Futakoi Alternative? I didn't like what I saw from the first couple of episodes of the first Futakoi, and dropped the series. But from what everyone else is saying about Alternative, I want to give it a try. My pick for an anime with bad reviews would be Kage Kara Mamoru. A cliched harem show with your archetypal characters, except for the main male protagonist being a cynical ninja. The series was just loads of fun to watch. It also ended quite dramatically, which was a nice touch. I kinda want a season 2 of this anime. Though I don't think too many people watched it. |

Futakoi isn't necessary for Alternative, but it is more enjoyable if you watch through all of Futakoi, since you get to see nearly the whole cast of Futakoi in completely different roles. And my pick for the thread just so happens to be Futakoi. No one else except me seems to like it, but I thought it was fun and enjoyable throughout, even though it was definitely cliche. Kaoruko and Sumireko had a strong pair of seiyuu (Yui Horie and Ami Koshimizu), which made them more energetic and lovable characters as a result. There was a love triangle mini-drama angst thing, and I'm a complete sucker for these types of things (why I enjoyed Kiminozo and Nana so much), so I really enjoyed watching that too. Not to mention there's Sara and Souju Shirogane, my favorite twins of any anime series. |

I've seen both shows mentioned every so often here. They both get positive comments which is how it should be.I love the last couple of Tsukihime episodes, and was a bit surprised by the last episode. It was one of those series which I wished it were longer. I usually despise dating/harem anime, but for some reason I really enjoyed Tsukihime. Maybe it's because of the darker nature of the series. I mentioned Requiem under the recent Haloween anime thread as a must see. It is also central to the current "where did this quote come from?" thread. The show is so much cooler than Tactics. These shows are underwatched, but not underrated. |

It didn't really get bad reviews here, but one of my all-time favorites that doesn't get much (if any) attention is The Legend of Black Heaven. The production values are not high, but I relate to the main character completely, & love the story & music.

I'll go in a similar direction and say Fatal Fury. Mostly because I'm a big video game fan. The "action Junkie" in me just loved this movie, despite bad reviews that I read. It was just a fun, entertaining anime. I could also put Fist of the North Star(movie) in that category as well. I don't let bad reviews stop me from seeing a movie/series. I'd much rather check it out myself and make my own judgement. Besides, who made the rule that an anime had to have tons of character development and underlying social commentary to be worthy of your time. I just don't get that. It's okay to shut your brain off for a few minutes and just enjoy what's in front of you without having to ponder the meaning of life or the best course of action to save humanity as we know it. I'm not that much of a stiff. |

_ones that haven't been mentioned so far :
Girls Bravo S1 & S2 - Yeah I said it. Even though the storyline is quite weak and the ecchi is quite over the top, there are some of the funniest one-liners I have ever heard in an anime. Bokusatsu Tenchi Dokoro-chan - this is as close to a brain-dead series you could watch. But that is what draws me to it. Goofy comedy and extreme violence. Not everything has to have a deep story, sometimes I just want to watch a mindless series. Maburaho - I have heard a lot of negative reviews on this series since it was released in the US. Yes I know, it's yet another harem and all, but it did have a pretty interesting plot twist that I didn't see coming. Also, the addition of magic and the way it was done/used was pretty interesting. It also have really nice animation quality in my opinion. |

I really don't get how Tsukihime can be considered be overlooked by people. If you enjoyed Fate/Stay Night, then you will love Tsukihime, simple as that. The storyline I think is wonderful, becuase it doesn;t give out too much and I love Arcueid in this series. Even though she was a vampire, she tryed her best to fit in with Shiki and human world (the date was priceless).
Another anime for me would be DB/Z/GT. I know everyone in genereal hates it but for me it was fun to watch. It was my first true experience with anime so I didn't care if it took Goku 50 episodes to Frieza, it was something I grew up with and I will stay loyal to forever, and I dare anyone to name a character that can beat Goku in a fight or food eating contest I think Eyeshield 21 doesn't get enough respect from everyone despite its popularity in Japan. It really is good for a sports anime and really fun to watch the characters like Sena and Monta go through hell with Hiruma. I mean he makes Kim Jong Il and Osama bin Laden look like saints. Plus he's got one heck of an arm. Some of the people that have watched it say that they aren't into football but they really enjoy the show and learned the basics of it from the show. |

in-joke moments involving the characters if you've seen the first Futakoi, but the plot is standalone, and really "out there" as well. Nagisa and I talked about the two series on this thread if you want more info.
 Credit goes DVD-rips for encouraging me to actually get the DVDs after seeing the fansubs.

I started reading the manga, and for a while it was in my Will Not Finish section. Then I saw a clip from the end of either the first or the second season, and I thought I'd give it a try. Still haven't touched it yet, though. |

I watched the first season of Girls Bravo fansubbed, and it had some moments here and there, but overall I found it to be pretty dull. The manga looks like it doesn't even have the fanservice.

_most of the reviews I have seen say things such as "dull, same joke over and over, mindless, dirty humor, ect....However, I think Green Green TV fits those reviews much better. I personally find Girls Bravo to be one of the funniest series I have seen. Of course it isn't a series that can be watched over and over. Once in a while, and it will remain funny |

Well I actually liked Girls Bravo to even though there wasn't a good plot, it was sorta funny and well...there was the girls.  Each episode was its own story really where they had there fun for that day. It was sorta mindless fun kinda stuff where the only reason you watch is for the bits of comedy and the eye candy.

Matantei Loki Ragnarok has never gotten particularly good reviews, but I loved it. It's not a deep, thought provoking story, true, and it's as corny as they come, and the Norse mythology thing seems to have been shoved in as a complete afterthought, but damn is this a cute anime. It's not something to watch when you want to think, but it's great to put on after a hard day when you want to relax and laugh at something stupid. Also, the art and music for it is very pretty^^

I read a lot of bad reviews for Kiddy Grade that made it out to be one of the worst anime in history. My sister bought the collected version after watching a few episodes on the Funimation block that Colours does. She convinced me to watch it with her and, honestly, I enjoyed it a good bit. It was a little incoherent at times but the characters were interesting, the animation was good, and the dub was great. There were some very cool plot lines in Kiddy Grade and I'd definitely say it was a good series. (Eager to see what the second season will be like.)
Not sure if the reviews were bad exactly but they tended to be pretty negative for UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie. Mostly people had a negative take on it due to the lolicon elements, but honestly I didn't see the big deal. It was a good, fun, fluffy anime series and I'm not ashamed to say I liked it. Besides, how can you not love a series with such adorable cat girls? I loved the art style of this series and it made smile. Of course you can find bad reviews for anything and good reviews for anything. Best thing to do is just trust your instincts. |
