Those kids don't look very happy. Let’s see, the models are smiling in how many of those pictures? Three-ish? The I’m-drowning-in-teen-angst-boo-hoo-hoo- feel to this site is a big turn-off for me.

The shirts all look like they where made on cafepress
...not like any of us has ever done that before Them being "anime industry vets" you would think they would come up with some more creative designs and why is it being posted on the front page? I hoped they paid for such advertisment |

Not only do those models look like they're auditioning for the part of "nilistic angst-ridden loser" in a Lifetime movie, but they're also boring looking. Seriously, I felt like I was looking at an ad put together by someone MTV fired. Also, those shirts are a joke. You could buy a pack of cheap T-shirts and make your own. Or better. Ironwarrior posted some pictures of T-shirts he'd made for Elfen Lied and another anime, and those absolutely ruled by comparison. Link to that thread so you can see better T-shirts: animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=28604&highlight=elfen+lied
Hardly worth noticing. |

Exactly I really can't believe that this is news worthy......you might as well put a shirt that says "will yaoi for money"....or "Glomb Me"....But don't worry I already put in my 5 orders since there edgy, and that the new word for the next 39 minutes. Give me a break. Last edited by Deltakiral on Tue Oct 24, 2006 2:32 am; edited 1 time in total |

When they say "original anime/comic/video game themed t-shirts" and "'edgy' areas of anime fandom", I take it that means they're not into the business of licensed t-shirts yet? Maybe never? Perhaps I'm just expecting the wrong thing.
I guess it's too much to expect Cospa level stuff right away, but...eh. |

Taken from the Anime News Network Lexicon:
That being said, I think they have a unique corner on the market. Anyway, here is my review of the t-shirts, website, and catalogue. T-shirts: Poorly made. They have an unattractive font and a catchphrase that only .5% of the population will EVER understand, if they are lucky. Website: Awful. That's all there is to it. As bad as the t-shirts themselves. Take special notice of the fact that the FAQ section is called "answers." Perhaps that's because no one actually cared enough to ask the questions. Catalogue: Okay... a five-page catalogue with two products isn't actually a catalogue. I agree with everything that was aforementioned about the models. Their lighting choices were atrocious, using hard lighting from the sun without even using a small reflector screen to cut down on the hard shadows. When your product relies entirely on stark contrasts, having unwanted shadows really doesn't help. Also, their pages are... well... totally white. Not creative at all. Overall Review: I have seem forum-dweller sigs that are at least 5 times edgier than this. |

Not yet. But that has no bearing on what goes on the front page. From a financial point of view, selling front page news items (although they would have to clearly be marked as ads) would be a very profitable idea.... The article was really borderline, I posted it for a couple reasons. 1) I'd like to increase the ammount of content that makes it to the front page, 2) the fact that they're industry vets, people thathave been mentionned by name on this site before, 3) I know these guys and perhaps that clouded my judgement. -t |

I can’t believe this item is considered noteworthy news by ANN. Something tangible must have changed hands in order to boost these immaculate losers up to the front page status. Edgy? Unique? Anti-popular? Pearl of the civilized world?? Give me a break. But honestly, when you look at their big reference point to their talent, “Giant robots fighting God,” you really have to ask yourself, “How can I expect more?” This is not to say that I don’t think their attempt at free enterprise is pointless or anything. I just think they need to abandon the “attitude” and put more effort into decent products instead of exerting all their energy in trying to fabricate an utterly tiring and overly used “edgy theme.” Just because you say it’s new and different doesn’t make it so. And so what if their veterans? I’ve met some really pathetic veterans of the anime industry in my time. Trying to fob off ones social connections in place of real talent is just about as low as one can go, don’t you think? This puts me in mind of a Simpsons quote:
-Pro-active; Paradigm; Aren’t those just buzz words stupid people use to sound smart? I’m fired aren’t I? -Oh god yes! |

That's the idea, you'd have to be an anime fan to get it. You think most of the people wear kanji shirts actually understand what it says? Reviewing t-shirt websites, why are otaku on the internet so pathetic? |

HA! One of my favorites! That site looks awful, and those t-shirts are so bland and uninspired that I can't honestly imagine anyone buying one, except maybe at a con when they're already in a "MUST. SPEND. MONEY." kind of mood. |

So does this mean if I start taking orders to print t-shirts with otakuish sayings on them from home I can get on the front page of ANN too?
Hey, everybody, I can design you a t-shirt that says "I love InuYasha" for $15 (plus $3 S&H). For an extra fee, I will include a prominent link to your fanlisting in metallic blue ink! This news item really makes me scratch my head - how can this kind of thing be announced and NOT the forthcoming "Advent Children: Complete" thing? |

Congratulatons! Mission accomplished!
Nice. Way to offend your customer base right in your mission statement.
Somebody explain to them that "counter-culture" and "anti-popular" are not necesarilly the same thing. |
