Damn this is the least Tsutomu Nihei work ,out all of them. However it is good and accessible piece of work, and who knows maybe after seeing Sidonia somebody will check this thing out called Blame! .

Yeah, it's a bit of a shame. It seems like Sidonia is by far the most conventional and least remarkable of Nihei's works. Although admittedly, that's probably why its the only one to get an anime*. Bringing any of his other works to life would be prohibitively expensive I think. *A real adaptation I mean. That OVA doesn't count. |

Mm, the cover looks a bit silly but I like the premise so might give this one a try. Maybe.

That's the cover of the magazine --- it has nothing to do with the Knights of Sidonia manga (and now anime). |

The manga on the cover is Ookiku Furikabutte. |

Ah, thanks for pointing out that it might be confusing. The cover image indeed has an image of Ookiku Furikabutte (Big Windup) on it instead of Knights of Sidonia. I've added an image of the first manga volume into the article and clarified in the article that the first image is the cover of the magazine. Hopefully that's less confusing now. |

I thought that maybe.. there will be an announcement of Ookiku Fukuributte s3 within the text.. aw that cover page is so misleading, darn it, it got my hope up ):

I liked Biomega, so I'll probably give Knights a look-see. I like Tsutomu Nihei's art style and stories, though sometimes, as in the case of Biomega, it can get a little tricky discerning one character from another because some look so similar. I should go back and re-watch the Blame! ONA. I didn't get that far into it the first time. Wouldn't mind checking out the manga series for Blame!, if I can find them. Maybe Kodansha USA will reprint them, seeing that Tokyopop is out of the picture.

there were actually offers to make Blame! into an anime and some short (5min 6 episodes) show was made that should show how a full blown production could look (anime#1166) but Nihei didn't gave his permission as far as I am informed; maybe now he changed mind or thinks that Sidonia is a better fit for an anime adaptation; I really like Sidonia, and I think Nihei's ability to write/draw good characters and make you care about them is most distinct in this work; I also really like the different atmosphere and his style in his other works but I did not think Sidonia as his more "ordinary" work has to hide or is somewhat a shameful thing or so: so I'm really looking forward to this!
