It's not an adaptation. It's a "tribute" which conveniently "borrows" the title.

Ha, does it "borrow" the story, too?

Jay Chou and Boa, huh. So it will at least be a nice movie to look at.

I wondered who this director is, so I did a search in Chinese (周杰倫 + 姚明)... 朱延平?! Orz God, he is one of the worst director I've known. His films were filled with low jokes and stolen ideas. And now he pursuaded GIO director to fund this movie with US$3M taxpayers' money (with 1M goes to Jay Chou)?! Oddly enough: this news didn't appear on the front page of any domestic newspaper, but it was highly anticipated to overseas media in Chinese (North America, SE Asia, etc.) |

Jay Chou is not nice to look at. Even most of my female friends will at least give me that one.

Same here. Don't get it why he's so popular. His nickname is "Chou the CEO" (周董) for his rude attitudes towards his coworkers, backstage staffs, fans, and media. Yet despite the rudeness his popularity maintains because his loyal fans think he deserves the privilege of having an attitute. |

I can think of three reasons:
1. He can play TWO pianos at a time! 2. He introduced not one but TWO endlessly recycled canto-pop melody patterns! 3. Fangirls can pretend he's a bad boy that got into a fight and had to have reconstructive surgery by a back-alley unlicensed plastic surgeon. (or that he was some horrible failed experiment to merge Leonardo DiCaprio and Edison Chan.) Can you tell I'm a fan? But hey, I can go on like this about most Asian idols. :p |

Does anyone else smell that?
It's the smell of an impending shitstorm. This is going to suck, I can already sense it. |

Jay was in Initial D and that movie wasn't too bad.

Yeah, and they only tried to pack 40 or so Initial D episodes into an hour and forty minutes. It didn't turn out...too...bad.... Who am I kidding, really? I'm a fan of Initial D, i've seen all the tv series, including the recent Fourth Stage, and even I found the movie to suck. The only thing they even remotely did right was the cars, other than that its just a crappy Fast and the Furious. Then again, Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift is nothing but a crappy Initial D, so I guess alls fair in cars and crappy movies. |

I think they are making a part 2 to Initial D. I never saw the original initial D anime so I have nothing to compare it to.

Because it was not directed by Chu. |

Here's the teaser I found off KFCC. They had to change the name for obvious legal reasons.
