What's a "progressive novel"? I thought it was a light novel.

The name of the novel series is called "Sword Art Online: Progressive". It's just a normal novel, you just lumped together the words wrong.

OT: Wow, every single floor. Could be interesting, but also could be boring. I'll either read the novel or manga, depending on what else i'm reading at the time.

Reiki is rewriting the story from the beginning. That's why it's "progressive".

The manga adapts Reki Kawahara and abec's revised retelling of Kirito's journey through the floating Aincrad castle from the beginning, floor-by-floor.

I am still waiting for "Sword Art Online gets sequel anime, it'll feature the GGO and ___ arc. It will be a 2-cour series"

Too bad they didn't wait for the progressive version to come out before making the anime.

It would either be Mother's Rosario (which wasn't great) or Alicization (which would have to be shortened a lot, not to mention the arc hasn't ended yet). I think it'd be better if they did a 1 cour season.

Naah i really enjoyed Mother's Rosario. maybe more than GGO. lotta SAO fans may not like it since Kirito didn't get as much screen time honestly. the story had pretty good depth

Yyyyyyyes!! *air punch*

Between this revised, nothing-glossed-over version, and the Girls Ops. spinoff, count me a happy camper. Wink

I too enjoyed it but I liked GGO more. They both delve into Kirito and Asuna's mentalities so I think they would work well together, though the sudden jump might make two separate seasons more likely.

Good stuff, the author always regretted leaving Aincard full of holes as he did.

For me, the perfect format for SAO anime would be:
Mother's Rosario: movie
GGO: OVA
Alicization: season two

How will the Progressive novels deal with floors/parts already covered in the previous novels? Will the story be retold or quickly skipped over? I'm interested in seeing how its handled.

For the anime, it seems that GGO is going to be the focus of the next season whenever that happens. And after that Underworld. But, as mentioned by others, there is still Mother's Rosario and, not mentioned, the Caliber SS which most likely would be an OVA or multiple OVAs.

If I remember correctly the stories covered floors are simply repeated to be put back in their chronological place with a few minor edits.
