unfortunately the PlayStation Vita is doing relatively poorly in North America,
Its doing poor because nobody is bothering to bring over any of the good Japanese games...

Amen to that. The lack of willingness to take risks with the platform is harming it far more than many people can see. Persona 4 Golden was probably many people's reason for getting a Vita and that should easily show Bamco that there's a market for rereleases of Japanese RPGs. However, it's there decision to do what they want. Hopefully they won't try to deprive the Gods Eater fanbase of the sequel due to this...

But the companies shouldn't be forced to take that risk, as much as i would like them too. Its Sony's fault and it's Sony who should help companies bring the titles over. But they won't.

Doubt that would save the Vita here. The system simply has no line up that will bring in people in numbers and well it's hard time for handhelds in general.
It sucks. I don't really like the Tales series, but I enjoy at least attempting them. Innocence looks very bland, but Hearts looked a bit different from usual Tales games. Sucks that an English release has been dashed twice now.

More or less. I bought a PSP, but only a small fraction of the games I wanted ever came out in America, so I ended up importing/emulating more games than what I actually owned. Looks like the Vita will follow suit. No one buying it in America due to lack of games, and there's a lack of games due to no one buying it. What a lovely bit of circular logic.

Japan's not getting very many Vita games, either. If anything, publishers are releasing more PSP games right now than they are Vita games.
People seem to keep forgetting how absolutely consumer unfriendly the Vita is. It's unnecessarily expensive, and the memory cards it requires are even more unnecessarily expensive (on top of being a proprietary format and only allowing 1 account per card). If you overprice the hardware, no one's going to really buy into it and publishers are obviously going to turn away.
Look at how a simple price drop helped the 3DS. Even Japan's Vita price drop helped itself out.

This guy even said he wanted more people to experience Tales of Hearts, and now we'll never get that chance.
Also, the reason the Vita is doing badly is because 1) it's expensive and 2) it has an expensive proprietary storage medium. Namco should do more Tales games on the 3DS like with Abyss, because the 3DS is actually selling good now at a LOWER price unlike the Vita.
In fact, I won't be surprised if they pull a Digimon World Re:Digitized and do 3DS versions of Hearts and Innocence R, even if the graphics take a hit we'll at least have a better chance of the games getting here, and on a variant of the platform that they were originally developed for. That or they'll remake Rebirth on there, which is another Tales title we never got.
I swear Namco just loves to hate the Tales fanbase overseas, especially people who want games on Nintendo systems. They gipped Wii owners with Graces F because the original needed improvement on the PS3 and they gipped DS owners by not localizing any of the DS titles (although Tales of the Tempest can get out of Dodge, WORST TALES GAME EVER)

Yeah read about this on Playstation lifestyle, that is not good to hear. Anyway to prove Namco Bandai wrong and try to convince them to bring those 2 Vita Tales game to the US.

First post got it spot on. The reason I got a Vita was solely for the JRPG's that I will see on it.
I don't blame it on the Vita itself for its sales, I mostly blame it on Sony's marketing. Firstly they had the whole system riding on Black Ops Declassified and that was terrible. Also the Vita was showing off features that it couldn't do at the time with that MLB commercial. The vita can't cross-play PS3 games yet, so they shouldn't have made that promise on that commercial.
Actually I was thinking to myself that the Tales Of Vita games would bring more people over to the Vita. The whole reason Hideo stated this was because their was a campaign on FB about localizing the Tales Of games to NA. Hopefully Namco changes their mind later on because this was a big slap in the face to a big Tales Of fan like me.

I pretty much agree. Face it: there is a market for Japanese games in America, and even if it has to go the route of being available on PSN only like Atelier Totori+ (with me applauding Tecmo-Koei for actually bringing game over to America so quickly), gamers are still willing to download it.
For the Vita to sell, companies really need to start taking some risks and either release content for it or, in the case of Japanese companies, bring their Vita games stateside.

Yeah, I hate the vicious cycle of no one jumping in. And yet, many niche companies have been doing so! Aksys, Atlus, NISA, and XSEED. As small as they are no one said "hey guys, lets not bother with the Vita, cause no one bought it!"

Are you kidding me?? T-K of America has been treating their new IP acquisition like CRAP!! The ONLY marketing has been out of Europe for Ayesha. America's branch only cares about Ninja Gaiden and DoA. Heck, Totori came out before it was even ANNOUNCED. Fast yes, but that's terrible and no one does stuff like that anymore! Once again, only the European branch announced it. They brought it quick but as far as I'm concerned, T-K is anything BUT applaud-worthy :/

It's funny how Sony is doing horrible marketing now, and Nintendo was in that position before the PS3 came out.

Exactly. It wasn't the great games that made people in Japan suddenly start buying the Vita, it was slashing the price. If they did the same price cut here (and they're on record saying they wont) then the NA sales would jump considerably as well.
