Has it been said how many episodes this will be? 12 episodes doesn't seem like enough to cover 7 light novels, but maybe i'm wrong. We'll see.

Yeah this is an unusual turn of events... They really want to appease the fan-base don't they?? I just hope.. I really hope the ending is decent "although I'm not looking forward to the kuroneko arc".

There is no way unless they plan on doing a slew of ova's or spanning out to 20 plus episodes this time around.

12 episodes = rushed, too many materials cut out
24-26 episodes = can cover the remaining novels to the end

I expected as much. And yeah, it would have to be 26 episodes.

I think what the article actually needs is:
"North American distributor Aniplex of America is importing and selling a limited quantity of a Japanese Blu-ray box set of the first season of Oreimo to be released this month, complete with both the original and alternate endings."

As long as the second season can justify or explain satisfactorily why Kirino is such an unlikable bitch in the first season, I don't really care how long it is.

She suffers from mary sue syndrome. However I did get to thinking a-bit and what I'm about to say is pure speculation "making sh** up". Kirino is Idol much like the recent idol that shaved her head and was put to shame for having a boyfriend/lover. What if eroge is her only outlet for "major eww incoming" sexual outlets and she is only to be around other boys close to her age such as her brother??
Maybe she become bro-con as a result of this outlet but acts like a ?? Preahps Kirino acts like a t-total b**** to keep her job as well so the company she signed up for won't suspect her immoral feelings "this was hard to type people". Now you can take that face value as much as you want to. I'm just doing a spin on why she acts the way she does but I hardly doubt It's true or will matter with most.

if you played the PSP game you probably already know why kirino has a complex
if you are an oreimo fan you should definitely check out the PSP games, even if it's just on youtube
season twos are usually not as good as season ones, take haruhi for example. but I am brim full with anticipation. I have no expectations but if they plan to do 26 episodes I hope that is not a bad sign.
Accel world and Persona 4 were long animes this past year and both were done very well so I am hoping for something great.

The PSP games are not canon, but many of the routes were either written by the original novel author or with his direct involvement. So some of the ideas first shown in the games did eventually show up (or get hinted at) in the novels... but not everything is explained in the games either.
Nevertheless, (not the answer, but whether the answer exists) the issue has been explained in the novels (Volume 11), so should be in the anime.

Hope they don't rush it too much but I'm glad that they're going to have a definite finish.

That is very rare and pleasing. Seeing an anime cover its source material all the way to the end.
On the other hand, it's going to pain me to see a lot of viewers turn on Manami like the readers did. But with anime showing the end of the novels, at least we won't have to wait until the novel gets translated to see who Kyousuke ends up with. My money is on Ayase, btw.
