I know she's a kinda divisive figure among fans (even I don't like some of her shows) but I think Mari Okada is pretty darn cool! I bet that the people who get to hear her will learn some neat, neat stuff.

There's no doubt that she has some talent. But she sports a fetish for melodrama; for example the ending to anohana was almost ruined because of the over-the-top waterworks. She also struggles to portray subtlety, genuinely believing that DRAMA IS SHOUTING AND SHOUTING IS DRAMA. When she does try and play it quiet, we get characters acting bizarrely, not like real people would.
Of course, some of her problems lie in the source material she's asked to adapt. But as a blogger put it (Ctrl-F and search for "Mari"), she gets asked to adapt certain titles because of her style. So even if we don't know how much of it is the source material (if applicable) and how much is her, she's still chosen for her style. I do like how she's handled Zetsuen no Tempest and a couple of other shows, but I dislike most of her work. She's more 'miss' than 'hit'. |

Nice to see that one of my favorite slice-of-shows that no one watched (Sketchbook ~full Color's~) was supported by her!
