Hmm... Well now, which of these two do you guys think is better? I'd have to say I was more impressed with Rahxephon off the bat, but now I'm not so sure if I like it's weirdness. Of course, Full Metal Panic seems fairly solid, but there's always that chance that it'll become too light... I'm wondering which I should collect. I'd collect both if I had the money, but ya know how that goes . Meh, looks like I'll just have to work more.

I'd go with RahXephon, but I like 'weirdness' and mysteries in the stuff I watch. I don't know how much my opinion is worth regarding this though: I liked Evangelion, including the 25 & 26 episodes.

wow . Do you mean the original ending? I own both the series and end of evangelion, and I thought that EOE was okay, but I wouldn't want Rahxephon to end up like that, which is what I'm afraid of... Have you seen the end of Rahxephon, and could tell me if it was good or not?

I would say that RahXephon can feel like an Eva rip off. Especially the whole thing about blue blood, too much like pattern blue for my tastes.
It is its own beast, but it is in the same vein.
Full metal panic can be good, but varies between some real funny comedy and action. It's not half bad, I'd go with it if you want a mecha show that is less mysterious, more action.

Wow, this is kinda a toss up.
I really like both these series so far, although I think Rah Xephon is a little bit better.
My suggestion is to pick up Rah and wait for either A) You have more money and can get both series, or B) If ADV releases FMP in a collector's set for a cheaper price then buying the DVD's individualy (but you may have to wait AWHILE for that).
But if you do have the money for both, I say get both. Hey, Best Buy always seems to have ADV titles in stock(now, Bandai and other companies...well that's a different story), and they're 20 bucks a pop, not to bad.

Yep, the original ending and the alternate ending in End of Evangelion were both good IMO. I liked the original ending because it was so different than what I had seen before in anime or live-action movies. I really liked the introspection.
I thought Rahxephon was a little TOO similar to Evangelion when I first started watching, but after disc 3, it does seem to be on it's own in many ways. I don't think it'll end like Evangelion. I've just been watching them as they come out on Region 1, so I really don't know how it ends.

Haw! There's even a scene of Ayato staring at his hand! I was half expecting some kids to start laughing at him.
But yeah, it's definitely starting to flesh out in its own direction. I think the last DVD shows that much.
Can anybody explain to me why Quon is humming the old standard, "Stranger in Paradise"? Is it a major plot point? I find it strange that some alien/Egyptian/Mayan/whatever technology would involve old songs from the 50s.

I saw both. "RahXephon" is FANTSTIC. One of best animations I've seen so far. Lets just say you must see "RahXephon". "RahXephon" has sci-fi,mecha,drama. And very serious storyline. "FMP" is serious at times but has lots of comedy (funny situations).

I have only watched Rah Xephon and it was very good, but what is the main difference between Rah Xephon and Full Metal Panic?

I must say that I am very impressed with RahXephon. When it first came out, I was unsure what to think of it. I thought that it was just an Eva clone. (of course you can argue that Eva is a Gundam clone but I digress) The second disc is what grabbed my attention and so far, I'm still interested.

Aside from them being two different series? Well, from my understanding, FMP is more of a comedy, where as Rah Xephon is more of a action/suspense/drama (don't get me wrong though, FMP does have its share of action and intrigue).
Also, FMP takes place around the present day or maybe 5 years in the future, judging by the military hardware used (the tanks and planes). Rah Xephon takes place well into the future, and the main aliens are a mysterious race caleed the MU, while FMP goes toe-to-toe with terrorist organizations.

I'd have to go with RahXephon on this. It has that Martian Successor Nadesico/Eva flavor of mystery wrapped in lies and i just love it. Don't get me wrong FMP has me rollin on the floor laughin in most episodes, especially dealing with Chidori and Sagara in compromising situations but... oh well.
