You know, there are spoilers out there already, /a/ has been obsessing over them for nine consecutive general threads, tens of smaller threads and a sticky. If half of them are true I want to prostrate before Anno and then shoot him in the head.

That's quite a quaint way to abnegate one's appreciation for such an oeuvre, I must declare.

Lurk moar. In any way going there now is ill-advised if you're hyped for Eva and want to keep your sanity. |

Just heads up, if the movie plot that is being told on a bunch of forums is true, prepare for a giant mind blowing experience. It takes a HUGE step away from the TV series and is difficult to even be called evangelion. VERY and I repeat VERY unexpected plot twist that takes the franchise god knows where?

I take it that the notion of 'midnight openings' for movies in Japan isn't nearly as common as it is in the USA?

spoiler[Most reports generally confirm that there's been a 14 year time jump between the second and third movie. However, it's revealed that being an Eva pilot halts the aging process, so the pilots are still the same physical age. Shinji and Rei have been absorbed into Eva-01 this entire time, but Asuka and Mari are 28 year olds in the bodies of 14 year olds.] God help us all. Just....just.....God help us all. . |

This is a spoiler-free thread. Be extremely careful about what you post - I am happy to boot people for being careless about this sort of thing. Most audiences won't see this for a long while.

I watched NHK's airing of the first ~7 minutes, too, and wow, I can't wait until FUNi brings it out over here.
I'm more curious about the numbers for those ~7 minutes, though. |

Just read Animate.tv's report here: http://www.animate.tv/news/details.php?id=1353134522
Might want to include in the article that the midnight showings were announced with just an hour's notice, yet still sold out within minutes. |

Ha midnight! Like the earlier and earlier Black "Friday" sales, try 10pm last night! That's when the 5th and final Twilight movie opened! (To the tune of $30 million! $30 million! That's a whole weekend's worth in a couple hours!) |

I thought about seeing it tonight, but at the theater I saw that the 9:00 pm showing was sold out...the 11:00 pm showing was sold out...the 1:30 am showing was sold out...and if I wanted to show up at 3:00 in the morning, yes, I could get a seat.
Saw "Nerawareta Gakuen" ("The Targeted School") instead, and literally had the whole auditorium to myself. Egad, the lens flares in that thing! |
