Oh wait you mean spoiler[his cousin not recognising him], well I guess that is a little silly, but I guess there is a change to hair, ears and a possible change to skin complection that may be particular to in game race that would be hard to convey through the characte design.

I'm not buying this, mainly because there has been no effort to make him look any different on the part of the animators (barring the ears).

Besides, his appearance in SAO was based on real data, and that has been transferred across to ALfheim Online. Which means not only does he not look any different to us, he's not supposed to look any different to the players inside the game, barring of course the ears.

Maybe she is also too distracted by his dreamy fairy body? Especially if Kirito is spoiler[her type, she probably doesn't expect to see him there, in the middle of the wilderness when she is not aware of him playing it].

Sorry, but this is silly. When coincidentally meeting/crossing paths with someone that you know very well, it's natural to do a double-take or to spend a moment blankly trying to figure out who they are. But to not recognise them at all? I know it's dark in the forest but heck, even his voice is the same. This is why I was very surprised as to whom the true identity of the blonde-haired player was.

I see a distinct lack of certain people admitting that they were wrong in thinking that the players were unable to get in contact with one another and that everyone thought Kirito to be dead.

I just wanted to point out that some people might be feeling a little sheepish to suggest that everyone in the final boss room thought Kirito was dead. Now, maybe Kirito had only told Agil/Egil about his survival, but that's pure speculati.

I assume I was among those these posts were directed at? Well, I only watched episode 16 earlier today, so I haven't been able to comment on it until now. And as Key has already mentioned, nothing has been contradicted. The fact that at some point in the 2 months since the game ended Kirito got in touch with Egil doesn't mean in any way that everyone who saw Kirito die somehow knew he survived.

I never denied that Kirito would be able to contact his friends, and in fact speculated as to methods he might go about doing so in one of my posts. But him contacting a few friends (we've only seen one in the show so far, but I'm sure he's tried to get in touch with Klein as well) doesn't mean he's announced to the world and the media that he's still alive.

Funny, the blonde-haired girl doesn't appear to realise who Kirito is even though spoiler[she's apparently his cousin.] I don't get it. He looks exactly the same as in real life, just with wings and elf-ears, so what gives?

One thing to keep in mind is that appearances in this game are apparently random (or supposed to be, Kirito's probably ended up similar to how he looks in real life thanks to the SAO data corruption/transfer). Since appearances aren't supposed to be based on real life looks or even be possible to pick, she'd probably assume it's just a weird coincidence.

And she did at least gasp in surprise when she saw what he looked like.

By the way, despite some of the criticism I have given SAO over the series, let me take a moment to re-affirm something that really made me happy about the show. Since the last couple posts have mentioned the character, Egil, let me say that I give major kudos to the SAO production team for including a character who happens to be dark skinned but does not look like some kind of outrageous, over the top stereotype clown. It is really a sad commentary about Anime that something so simple has to be celebrated like this, but it seems to be the exception rather than the rule that such characters will look and act like normal human beings rather than crude stereotypes.

I suppose if you are referring to Bobby Ologun, not really sure what your comment is. I guess he would be a good example of the negative stereotypes.

Yes, I am certainly pleased to see SAO breaking away from that mold. Frankly, I am amazed that those kind of characters are still popular in Anime.

But.......his hair is really different. D:

I don't really like it in fact. >_> I prefer his look in SAO way more.
(of course he's still cool)

I laughed when he chose Spriggan though. The boy obviously has an obsession with the color black Anime hyper

That's ultimately why I never got into Tiger and Bunny. I was kind of digging the show at the very beginning but then as soon as that Fire Emblem guy was introduced, I was kind of like.... ugh, this guy is just way too much for me.

I agree with ChibiiKangaroo. I've criticised the anime a fair amount, but that was something I was pleased with too.

Anyway, I'm probably signing off on this thread now, since it's about 2 weeks till my final exams and I should probably be studying as opposed to dissecting anime. :/

Oh man, I cannot BELIEVE I didn't figure out that spoiler[Leafa was Sis-cousin] ahead of time. Zero points for me.

Damn, I'm enjoying this show. It's just good fun.

spoiler[Kirito meets Leafa.
Him learning to fly was LOL. Luckily he's a fast learner.
Seem like different races aren't too friendly with each other.
The world tree is still like a far away dream...
May prove to be very challenging even for Kirito.
That Sugou freak really is a cruel one, keeping Asuna prisoner in his game.]
