The character design looks pretty awesomeee~ I am kinda relieved for now.
I was really worried back then when I saw Riki anime face in the website, but the heroines turned out great. The only problem I have is that Rin hands looks weird |

I didn't notice that until I read your post. Then I clicked on the image to get the real size. On the full resolution, they look fine to me. I'm very excited for this. Been playing/reading the VN lately and I'm just massivly hyped up.Beyond words. Can't wait to see Rin and Kud in motion |

The designs look nice... just thought Haruka's hair is way different from the game as for the anime it's pink and in the game is kinda lilac but ok either way... been playing the VN too and completed Kurugaya's, Mio's and almost Haruka's routes till now... Hope JC. Staff really do a great job with this anime... It'd probably the best anime they've ever animated if they don't mess up

LB! easily has the best character designs out of all the Key works, and these pics show it.

Well, Ill be.
In my opinion the art is better than the visual novel's. Maybe the story could be as good. But then again judging the story by the art is misleading. |

The only thing that really comes to mind is Fate/Zero, and that was based of a series of light novels. Why do anime adaptions of popular VN's somehow always end up failing spectacularly? |

Non-linear storytelling seems to be a part of it, with all the different routes and endings that don't make for a direct translation to animation. It's not the same as doing manga (which are essentially barebones storyboards to begin with), or light novels. |

Don't nearly all VNs have a canonical "true" route, though?

Even Mortal Kombat games have "one true route". |

Was the visual novel ever licensed in NA? Was it ever translated to English? I've been meaning to try it out, legally, if possible.

Not officially, but it was fan translated in December. Key is against localizing their stuff for whatever reason (stated it in an interview before), so its the best you'll get. |
