Stay on topic, this week is Chihayafuru's week.
First place and beating Fairy Tail which was also on it's first week is great, not sure if it has happened before... It is only going to get better when they get their second season of the anime.
I wish Detective Conan's first week Volume 76 was higher but I assume it is doing well enough to continue onwards. The manga is thousands of times better than that ongoing trainwreck of an anime (good voices, good music, terrible filler cases, plotholes that they could only fix through repeating a case and not messing with the story and some that they couldn't fix so they just ignore it)...

I was surprised by those low sales so I checked and apparently volume 76 was released on june 18 so those aren't really 'first week sales'.
Quite happy with Chihayafuru topping the list too. Even if it had two extra days to sell compared to Fairy Tail, it's still a nice performance. ^^

This Volume should be compared with Volume 47 because they were the same number of days out in its first week. So this Volume will probably sell about 700 000 copies. Which is +100 000 compared to the previous one( 54). By the way Bleach Volume 55 will be getting a reprint on July 2 due to the high amount of sales.

Bleach is still selling fairly well very nice!It deserves to sell well considering this final arc is shaping into a finely crafted final saga! Now only if the Bleach anime would come back soon and animate the final arc then I would be a very happy man!

"Trainwreck", really? Even if you don't like it, that's a bit much.
I find the anime much more enjoyable than the manga. The mangaka did too apparently, given he's borrowed a lot of the 'anime only' characters and storylines and inserted them into the manga (Example: Shiratori, Takagi, and Kuriyama were all originally anime-only characters, but Gosho liked them enough to adapt them into the manga) The only main anime-only character yet to be adapted is Eri's rival, Reiko Kujo, which I find a bit odd to be honest. I guess Aoyama didn't want Eri to be focused on too much in the manga to the point of getting her own rival, and left that to the anime writers? Shame, since the Courtroom Confrontation episodes are some of my favorite anime-only episodes.
Not to mention the movies and OVAs are always fun.

How does incorporating some characters from the anime lead you to believe that Aoyama finds the anime much more enjoyable than the manga like you?

If it was a 'trainwreck', I doubt he would like it, let alone take ideas and new main characters from it. He must fine some value in the anime if he thought it had better ideas than his own work.

I chose my words carefully, people give many of the long shonen anime based on manga hell for having out of character moments and 10s to hundreds of episodes in filler.
That doesn't compare to Ai Haibara's sister's introduction being messed up, along with two of the appearances for the Black Organisation being censored. They stumbled upon something that looked episodic thought it would be fine if they change around the order of cases, change who is there, change who dies, why they die and replaces the MAIN VILLAINS with dummies with despite these ruining flow, creating plotholes bad enough they had to do the episode again for Ai Haibara to have a reason to appear and the lead character learning information off screen as he can't get infor on the main villains like names when they weren't even on the train he was tracing.
To me, a 12 episode series which fails to represent the franchise well isn't as bad as a 600+ monster series which seems to want to finish everything but stumbled so badly on the initial 100 or so episodes that you should be reading the manga to the show's OST instead.
Though, yes the first movie seems good and some of the other ones seem good. And I do enjoy the filler characters who were adopted into the manga and developed further there. It doesn't mean that the anime is liked more, it means he wanted to have a police officer with the Inspector and chose instead of creating his own character, he would develop someone who appeared in a movie.
That was good work on Gosho's part, not proof that "he thought it had better ideas than his own work". He took an empty shell like Takagi (who takes his full name from the voice actor, not sure if it means they hadn't thought ahead or that they just wanted that to screw up google searching about the character) and made him what the anime now uses him for. Gosho may have even originally DESIGNED him as well.
