Actually, the comma should be there.
Oops 
The one problem with automated spell checkers, is that they don't catch typos that create real words such as an <-> and. I do generally re-read the articles as well as spell-check them, but small things like that I can read right over and not notice. -t |

One question though: does anyone have any idea as to how good these Seven Seas people are at translation and such? Part of what makes this license announcement such good news is that a group like TokyoPop didn't land it (I still don't forgive them for the dozen-and-a-half recurring translation errors made on the Astray series thus far--how the HELL do you get a main antagonist's gender reversed through their entire run!?), but I'd still like to know that the series is in the hands of capable translators that will show it as much attention to quality as RightStuf has thus far with Phantom and Others.
Also, how far does the novel license extend? Given that a new Boogiepop novel and a third Beat's Disciple anthology were just released this May, the series seems ongoing (note: Beat's Disciple is a collection of short stories set during the Boogiepop series, but not directly involving Nagi, Toka, and the other main characters of the series). Actually, on that note, does the license even include Beat's Disciple? |

Hi, Adam with Seven Seas here. I'm the senior editor working on Boogiepop. Anyway, just wanted to answer your questions...
Andrew Cunningham is doing the translation of the first novel right now. He did the upcoming Gravitation novel from TOKYOPOP and he hangs out on the AnimeonDVD forums a lot. We basically screened a number a different translators and found his translation to be the closest to the material. It also doesn't hurt that Andrew and myself are die hard fans of Boogiepop. ^_- I've personally worked on in the publishing and manga business for a few years now and know the ropes. Jason DeAngelis and Yayoi Ihne are also fluent Japanese speakers and will be looking over the translation, but we're comfortable with the accuracy. Trust me, Boogiepop is in good hands.
Currently, we're going to put out the first 3 novels in 2006 and all four volumes of the manga. We're expecting them to do really well, but we'll pick up the rest of the series based on how the novels do. There are currently 10 core Boogiepop novels, 3 further Boogiepop novels set in the same universe and then 4 short story collections in the Beat's Discipline series. Hm...got another two-part question for ya.
On Seven Seas' website, it lists a tentative release date for the second novel, calling it simply "Boogiepop Returns." Now, does this mean that the two Boogiepop Returns vs. Imaginator novels (Part 1: SIGN & Part 2: PARADE) have been combined into one big novel, or will the second Imaginator book go under a different name? Also, out of curiosity, does this indicate that the rather long and bizarre titles of later novels might be shortened for the local releases? Not that I mind either way; I'm simply curious. |

The books will remain seperate, but will all carry the name "Boogiepop [something]" and a number on the spine to indicate the order. We haven't decided what we're going to call the second and third novels just yet, but I do think it'll make more sense to call them "Boogiepop Returns" and "Boogeipop Imaginator" on the covers and then use the actual titles in the book. Again, that isn't final, but I do have to take the logo design into account for the cover titles.
Basically what I said above. If the titles get too long, then we might just use a shorter version on the cover and the full title people recognize in the actual book. - Adam Arnold Seven Seas Entertainment http://www.gomanga.com/ |

When exactly are the two Boogiepop manga based(and what are they about)?
As, in relation to the anime-iteration, are they pre-, post- or during? Or, are they simply another take on the series as a whole? Thanks in advance for the response. |

Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh (manga 1) is a manga adaptation of the first novel (Boogiepop and Others) with some different events. These show how the beam of light happened. So it's all pre. Boogiepop Dual is post and features a male taking up the mantle of Boogiepop. That isn't a spoiler. It's visible on the second volume's cover. |

I love it when I pop in here randomly and see one of the manga I've waited for a long time have finally been picked up. Had the boogiepop manga on my self for years now, and could never get it translated, but the art's very nice. Been dying for the longest time to find out what the actual plot is. Glad to see the intrest of the Boogiepop property isn't dead here yet.

Good, but the rep. says that everything depends on sales. We all know how things that fans beg for don't sell well a lot of the time because the the people clamoring for X title look elsewhere and read things over the web when the things are finally picked up. Please buy it, please.
