Wasn't quite expecting Dark Horse to release Oreimo, but hey, its cool.
I wouldn't get my hopes up for that. |

The manga isn't that good mostly due to poor artwork. I'd prefer if they had picked up the Kuroneko spin-off or the light novel. |

I don't see why not. The DVDs sold well enough that Aniplex is re-releasing it in a (I'm assuming) cheaper set. I wouldn't assume Dark Horse would be licensing the novels, but I dont' see why Yen Press couldn't. Their light novels do pretty well.

I wish someone would get the OreImo novels instead of the manga. The manga is good, but if I remember correctly - the manga is currently on hiatus since the Kuroneko side-story manga started in Dengeki G's Magazine recently (same one OreImo was serialized in).
If that is the case then we'll only get four volumes unless the manga starts up again after the side-story is finished. |

Now this is the kind of Evangelion spinoff material I can get behind: a tribute anthology of "fan" art by major manga artists.
I mean, when Sgt. Frog is in the same panel as Shinji and Asuka, you don't really have difficulty accepting that "this *ISN'T* supposed to be a serious, alternate interpretation of Eva". There's those who say that even say, the Robot Chicken parodies of Star Wars water it down. I say that so long as its obvious that its a parody, there's no problem. Heck, even Bruce Timm (of "Batman: The Animated Series") was known to draw Evangelion fanart: http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/data/media/524/neon.genesis.evangelion.asuka.langley1.bt.jpg |

Oreimo is completely unexpected, coming from Dark Horse. That means I'll have to stop reading this in scan-lation form.
I'll look into Blood-C and Evangelion: Comic Tribute when they're released to book stores or RightStuf. |

I'm interested in hearing more about Amano's Deva Zan, both the book and the film. I'm familiar with his art, but not his storytelling chops. Color me intrigued, Dark Horse.

I remember them teasing that they had a Samura license. I was kind of hoping it would be Halcyon Lunch, but Emerald looks cool too.

Not too sure yet if I'll get Blood-C, as I only semi-liked the series, but if the manga doesn't try to go over-the-top with censorship, then I'll likely pick it up.

I'm wondering what "other stories" from Samura they got. I'd say probably Bridgit's Dinner and maybe Halocyn Lunch. Don't know about Bradherely's Coach since that's about as long as a whole volume of Blade. Definitely glad they got Emerald though.

Bradherley's Coach is an entirely different title (and I assume a different publisher, as I think Emerald et al. are Kodansha property). Some of Samura's short stories are great; others are stinkers (mostly his comedic shorts, as they don't work as well compared to something longer like Ohikkoshi). Still good to see more of his stuff, so I'll definitely be buying this. |
