Marketing and mascots. Why the hell do people act like it is a new concept whenever it's done in Japan.

Aww, I think it's cute! We have multiple Japanese grocery stores around the area that serve the needs of the Japanese nationals that work for various auto suppliers around Detroit but I never see the moe rice or Evangelion coffees or other fun stuff that occasionally get mentioned here.

At first I was like WHAHHAHAT? Then I remember all the k-on Otaku in Japan, and I thought "maybe?" This seems right up their alley: It's a moe that you can EAT! How can they go wrong?

makes sense also our dollar to yen is worth around .50cents less than theirs atm. So in return they are they ones that are actually doing well.

It's cheaper than K-on rice.

My question is, why eleven pounds? Is there supposed to be a message behind the odd number they choose or is it random that that number was chosen?

My second question is, who could eat that much rice, let alone really swing $34 for rice that just has a picture of moe girl as the logo? I mean, that just seems as if that amount is way too much at one time.

Also, how is this rice any different than rice you could buy generically, besides the "moe" image? For $34, I'd sure be asking that question myself if I was about to buy that.

Not sure if serious. Whatever..

The bag is 5kg that just happens converts into 11lbs. Multiples of 5 are commonplace weights for packaging, regardless the unit of measure.

Well you just don't sit and gobble up 5lbs of hamburger or 10lbs of flour in one meal either. The food gets measured out in various servings over however long it takes to run out.

¥2,500 is about the price a person in Japan would expect a 5kg bag of name brand rice to cost.

It doesn't come with a shot clock.
