Based on what I've heard, it definitely needs to be an error.

So in the magazine they said it would continue in April; but now the company is saying what they wrote in the magazine is wrong. Correct?

Yes and no. They're saying that it's not yet confirmed in April ... as in it hasn't been greenlit.

It is always better to base things on what you observe rather than what you hear It's a rather interesting show ... confusing as hell and lots of boob jokes, but oddly compelling with a rather deep backstory.

Well, it's going to be the 3rd highest fall series in terms of sales (behind Fate/Zero and Persona 4) so it is pretty certain that it will have a 2nd season, the details just haven't been hammered out yet.

Sounds more like "We are not ready to announce it yet"

I remember hearing it was split cour even before the season began, so I dunno what they're saying. Maybe they just aren't ready to "officially" announce it yet.

No, I definitely agree. But, at the same time, that would defeat the purpose of the (lone) review it has, by Carlo Santos, which gave the story a D+, and an overall C-. Plus, the encyclopedia entry's user ratings, which voted it as "so-so" in all categories, and has generated a median rating of "not really good". Heck, that would defeat the purpose of ANN's "preview guide" they've released for us every season since 2002(which I'm anxiously awaiting). All I'm saying is, if we applied that logic to all anime, especially those with similar circumstances as Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, we'd(I'd) just be watching crappy shows all willy-nilly. So, I'll go with the consensus.
But whatever floats your boat.

Horizon has a small but extremely dedicated fanbase that vehemently defend it from criticism.
The main problem I see with it, is the author undermines his own story with the ridiculously fanservicey character designs/outfits and all the ecchi jokes that constantly break the mood. Am I supposed to take this seriously when mid-discussion about someone being executed soon, they flash over to Tooru talking about porn mags and his sister doing a boob bounce in her "school uniform"?
Along with apparently being a poor writer that is unable to even remotely write a concise storyline. (Vol4 clocked in at 2400pgs for a LIGHT NOVEL)

Well, "consensus" is relative. Talk to another group of people and their consensus would be quite different. I mean it's actually a good thing that people don't follow along else there would never be fans of this show or any show.
