Episode 7
"A rudder? Is he using his...IS IT THAT BIG?!" Hell yea for pool episodes! Like I said before, I liked the drama of the Monarch Arc, but the show is definitely at it's best when it's goofy and funny, and this episode takes us right back that. So many innuendos, so many sexual gags, so many cliches played to perfection (the falling off bikini top), so many laughs. I also found it kind of neat and funny when they were explaining their nom de gurre. Honestly, I thought they had some deeper meaning to them, but it's amusing how they're all as well thought out as Satou's. Dammit, I love this show! |

This eppie was a return to form for me and a very welcome one. I love how they found a Ben-to way to do a swimsuit eppie. The God of Discount was particularly hilarious. I also really like how they are building The Ice Witch and Freak's relationship ... you can really see it developing on both sides. Very rare. By the way, I couldn't figure out what Freak was using as a rudder ... anybody know?

That's what I wondered too, but that doesn't make sense, does it? The rudder was obviously something hard, like a fake plastic shark fin would be, whereas the arm would be made of cloth, right? |

Or maybe...maybe he is that big, so the arm looked like it was hard. Either way, when did he grab whatever he grabbed? He's running in the pool, he's bouncing off the jets (hands underwater), then he's dashing for the food. Nowhere in there did it even hint he had grabbed something. |

Whoa, don't let Kiba and the rest of the Wolf's Rain packs hear you say that. The difference in pride between wolves and dogs seemed to be a major talking point with them. Which basically just shows the difference in human attitudes toward wild wolves and tamed dogs. Has nothing to do with the actual nature of the animals. I think that was the best pool/hot springs episode I've ever seen in any anime. Usually they just make me groan. |

While I did like this latest episode putting its own twists on the typical "pool episode", I'm starting to get annoyed with Ben-to's love of putting You in humiliating situations. As a running gag, it is starting to irk the heck out of me that I have to keep seeing him reduced to some state of undress just for some cheap laughs.

I can understand the running gag with him being stripped, it's a joke that is at least slightly unique to this show, and he doesn't help himself too much with some of his actions.
spoiler[(and while I felt my fansub's translation of "hentai" as "freak" was plain stupid, I thought it was funnily complimentary to him when the guy remarked after his pants dropped by saying "You really are a 'freak'!")] It was the all too familiar bits that annoyed me in this episode... spoiler[ He loses at the game and carries the insanely heavy bags. He has to pay for his ticket, not the girl who lost it. He won the meal but has half of it stolen by the girls.] Those are the types of things you see in every other show you've ever seen. |

Well, you guys wanted it to get back to the silly, and boy, did it get back to the silly. The rudder was hilarious, haven't laughed that loud in a while.
Spastic Minnow raises a valid point, seeing the same situations we see in every damn harem anime was a little tiresome. Only a little though, because I thought the setups were executed in typical Ben-to fashion, taking things just a little step further than other shows might. Also, yay for small moment of plot development, keeps the boring farts (like me) who watch 'for the story' happy as well. spoiler[Two new characters introduced, though since they look like twins they should probably be classed as one new character. Shame they only got, like, 20 seconds screentime, if that.] |

Must say I was glad to see some development on the Sato and Yarizui front. When Sato handed Yarizui the spoiler[honor seal], my thought was he should put it on her cheek in kind of a "I'll keep this here on my other special thing" moment for the two of them. Lo and behold, spoiler[she puts it on his cheek. That works too.]
I don't really care what they used for the rudder, I just want them to know it was funny 
I do like harem shows but the one thing that bothers me is Shaga. She's really hit or miss at any given point in an episode. She's a hit when she sneaks up behind him in the pool and spoiler[makes it difficult for him to ...uh....move] but she's a complete miss when she always spoiler[steals half of his bento.] I know Shaga is just trying to get his attention but it's annoying me. Maybe because I'm so for the Yarizui/Sato side that I see her as a hindrance. Or maybe it's just because she's too over-the-top at times. +2 for a Shiraume sighting! Shall I kick you? |

indeed now fighting on food in pool inside a ball. yea we got it all hey hello swimsuit malfunction to like some kind of "what" to help push sato get food but his "little jimmy" got exposed & wham kick by class pres? lol at bad luck lady riding on roof of truck & appear out of sewer hole. yea also mention omleetedoobi food really indeed yea who keep coming with all these foods & fights. wonder what next? (lol at how beauty lake name came from ha ha). ok now wondering when dub will arrive? |
