Man, I wouldn't say he's big, but when he has the floor....
Now it's time for fanboy pandering: I hope they have a voice-over by the original narrator. That would be l337. |

Are there big Robotech fans at the U.N? There must be. I'm not sure if this is cool or just bizarre.

Because when the aliens attack, if the world isn't at peace, we won't stand a chance at fighting them off.
Seriously, though, has the UN become such an ineffective joke as to need public service announcements to remind people it exists? |

Macross wouldn't be a good idea, since the fanbase for Robotech (and it's nostalgic appeal) is significantly larger than Macross |

Will anyone in the UN realize it's Robotech they're seeing? It'd be kind of obscure for world leaders to easily recognize an anime. And using that logic, Serge, if they are going to have a hard time recognizing Robotech, how will anyone but Japan know about Macross? (Unless you were being sarcastic, in which I withdraw my statement.)

Is this a very late April Fool's Day joke? Robotech is certainly more well-known in North America than Macross is, but it was still one of those shows that, in a lot of markets, you had to get up at a ridiculous time to be able to watch and it certainly was never He-Man popular or G.I. Joe popular.
Anyway, if you count UNICEF as a part of UN, it most certainly isn't the first animated PSA for the organization, as Firdas J. Kharas has done several animated PSAs for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. |

I am in agreeance with Serge.Macross would have been better refernce. If more people saw the orginal macross they would agree it was better.Plus more people would be fans of macross if more people saw the orginial. While i like the idea they used anime.Though i am not a fan of harmony golds strangle hold on robotech/macross copyrights. The day they lose those rights will be a day the fans of macross will rejoice. |

Yes, because that will be the day Macross 7 and Macross Zero will see the U.S. |

*sigh* Well I suppose disHarmony Gold did "create" Robotech since it is a different story than the original (and superior) SDF Macross. However, to me it is a slap in the face of the original to do a Robotech PSA.
Thankfully, I purchased the Macross DVD's before AnimEigo had to stop distributing them. I make sure to share the love by loaning these DVD's out to folks I know who've never seen the original but did see bloody Robotech. |
