It's funny how it claims she's the voice of Sailor Moon when the character had 3 VAs in the dub and that they're bringing in the worst of the three.
Plus they botched in the press release saying that she voiced her in the S & SuperS dubs when it was only in the movies while Linda Ballentyne voiced her in both seasons. |

See, when I read this I thought they meant for a new dub.... especially after the manga breaking into #1 in sales. *sigh*
Seriously? Linda Ballantyne is hands down my least favorite voice out of them; she sounded way too hard of trying to mimic her predecessors and she sounded middle-aged while doing it, not like a teenage girl, Terri did a much better job IMO. The only true debate is Terri VS Tracey. |

Which Tracey wins because she, unlike the other two, actually made "Serena" sound like her age. It's a damn shame that DiC didn't keep her for the entirety of their dub. |

Tracey was my favorite, but I think she left on her own. I've been to her website, and she's now a theater actress, and probably left so she'd have more time to focus on her career.
Linda Ballantyne didn't sound very age appropriate, and she was pretty bad when she started out, but I thought her acting was at least pretty good. She captured the goofy side and the serious side of the character. Her Queen Serenity voice was also neat. Terri, she sounded very Canadian (nothing against Canadians, I don't like it when anime voice actors have Texan accents either). Her acting could've been better too. |

Wow, this is like a blast from the past. Wonder how many people there remembers her, even though she was the most well-known of Serena's dub VAs.
(In Canada, I could understand they'd remember her. But all the way in Florida?) |

I think Tracey is one 1a, but Terry is close with at 1b. When you listen to them side by side, Terri isn't bad at all, but Tracey is a just a tad better because, like NJ is saying, she does sound more age appropriate. That said, if Tracey is age appropriate, Terri is only about 2 years older; so she sounds 15 and Tracey sounds 13.
Also, HAH!. The [wo]man themselves who posted the comparisons is here. I knew the name "PurpleWarrior13" looked familiar. |

"Terri Hawkes provided the voice for the majority of the series and subsequently returned to voice the iconic character in three films: Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, and Sailor Moon SuperS." To be fair, I think this is a valid representation considering that S and SuperS weren't on TV in the US... ever? (definitely not during the well known run) I know they got a later DVD release, but it's totally reasonable to assume most people know the Sailor Moon dub from its on-air TV run. Therefore, going with the actress that was on TV for the longest makes perfect sense. Having just checked all the voices, I wouldn't call Terri "the worst of the three", but that's all just a matter of taste. I WOULD probably call her the most RECOGNIZABLE of the three. (especially since she voiced the most notable part of the US broadcast of the show) |

They aired in the US on Toonami starting summer of 2000. |

Terri Hawkes is easily the best in terms of the voice and range she provided as Sailor Moon..the others simply don't compare.

Terri was really good in her first run up to the end of the Alan/Ann arc, but when the dub for the Black Moon storyline was produced, she flew off the rails and became almost parodic. I felt she sorta flubbed on the melodrama during that arc by going way over the top. Sailor Moon is an over-the-top melodrama, but you have to sell the audience on it, I think by playing the arc like she did kind of killed the drama.

Ms. Hawkes provided the voice for 55 of the 112 episodes that were dubbed into English and (as you stated) in all three movies. The rest of the English dub (57 episodes) was performed by two other actresses (15 episodes and 42 episodes.) This is based off numbers from the IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114327/fullcredits#cast)
Based on her body of work, Terri Hawkes is the primary actress attributed to the character… but this is not meant to detract from the great work the other two, did, too. We’re thrilled to have her as our Guest! |

Actually, she theoretically voiced closer to 70 episodes and the 3 movies: http://sailormoon.wikia.com/wiki/Terri_Hawkes And they dubbed well over 112 since S and SuperS saw release, even with some chopping and what not. Since the series spans 200 episodes and the "lost" season Stars is only 34 of those. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sailor_Moon_episodes I did not know that apparently Linda has voiced slightly more episodes than Terri, but (personal opinion) I'd still list Terri as the "known" English Sailor Moon voice since her episodes have gotten MUCH more exposure than Linda's work in S and SuperS.
http://sailormoon.wikia.com/wiki/Usagi_Tsukino (considering it closer, these counts might be skewed slightly by the fact that the English versions of some early episodes were cut and or chopped up and pieced together) |

I loved Terri as Serena since I was a little kid. Without her, the dub means nothing to me.

Calling Terri Hawkes the "worst" of the 3 VAs when she actually had a lot of fan support and applause over the years is a complete understatement. I mean, Tracey Moore (the first VA) left because she couldn't compete with playing Sailor Moon and Directing the episodes at the same time. Then Terri came in, and that's how the fans got more used to her voice. Hawkes made Serena very good because she captured some of her goofy and emotional sides that was present in the original Japanese version. THE FANS (even a few anime purists that I know of) LOVED HER. When Terri got pregnant in 2000, and Linda Ballantyne (the third VA) came along, not many people liked Linda's voice because she made Serena/Sailor Moon sound too old! If you wanted to complain about Terri Hawkes being the voice of Sailor Moon at all, then you should've done so a long time ago.
