Wow, is Duel Masters really doing that bad that it has to use McDonald's to get some exposure?

I found this part of the article a bit misleading:

Quote:
Duel Masters would not be the first TCG line that has been kickstarted by a QSR promotion; the increased exposure may help make up for the fact that Duel Masters no longer has its daily strip on the Cartoon Network but is instead in the Saturday Toonami block.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Duel Masters was always on the Toonami block since it started in March 2004.

i just want to know what cards you will be getting cause they doing a better deal. you get 3 cards instead of 1 like yugioh was. So it somewhat a good promotion and it just mean i should apply for a job there LOL

Actually, a couple months ago they started showing it like at 6AM Monday through Friday. They changed it around the beginning of this month so it's not entirely incorrect.

Wizard's site has a checklist of the cards in the promotion

Actually, Duel Masters was initially on Toonami for one Friday, but three episodes at once. Then, it switched over to that "Saturday Video Entertainment System" they had on before Toonami moved to Saturdays. And from what I can tell, Duel Masters is doing pretty well with some of the kiddies because it's like Magic the Gathering (which definately is better).

YAY for Dual Monsters.

It's a great show. Of course, it isn't for cllose-minded anime otaku, but who cares about that!

I don't think McDonald's would bother with the franchise if it didn't still have some zing in it.

The franchises that are really doing poorly go to Taco Bell to die...

Actually, if I remember correctly, Taco bell offered Digimon toys just before it got popular....

The people who care about some semblance of plot development. (This is coming from a guy who loved Mon Colle Knights)

Yeah, but Taco Bell also had Cardcaptors merchandise when that franchise was already pretty much flatlining.

Sometimes it gets lucky, I guess...

Dual Monsters is a comedy. It doesn't really need a real plot. It just needs somethign to keep the episodes connected, which it does.

Personally I find the whole concept of MacDonald's "Happy Meals" let alone them pimping that brand with toys, eithically distasteful. (no pun intended) Especially with all the evidance of the unhealthy content of MacDonald's food and the increasing problem of obese children and the health problems associated with that. I now visuallise Ronald MacDonald, standing next to the stereo-typical drug dealer and paedo-pervert near school playgrounds. Rolling Eyes

Funny, I thought it was Wendy's that got that short end of the stick.

Yeah, those weren't actually toys. They were tin cards in plastic digivices (I actually have a few). Digimon was already popular when Taco Bell offered them (or at least in my mind).

Remember the Sonic the Hedgehog toys they had years ago, though? Those kicked ass.
