AICN has posted a report, professedly from one of the Italian advisors on the Mobile Suit Gundam Script, stating that Yoshiyuki Tomino said, in a private conversation, that a major Hollywood Studio is currently working on a "big Gundam movie strongly based on the first series."

Just a rumor for now, so not on the news page.

I bet it will be in theatres the same day that both the live-action Evangelion from "major Hollywood studio to be named later", and the live-action Real Bout High School, from Melissa Joan Hart's vanity studio, are released.

That day would be the 32nd of Smarch, 20X6 (Twenty-Exty-Six).

Yeah, it is a lousy release date because, that particular Friday, most people will be playing their brand new copies of Duke Nukem Forever whilst listening to the new Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy.

Hmm...interesting. So, now we start speculating on which actors would play which roles, and which special effects production house would be selected. Oh, and let's not forget the musical score for the film!

Or...we can take the rumor as it is, and not get ahead of ourselves. Something we see here almost all the time. Rolling Eyes

If the Gundam units in Matrix Revolutions couldn't help the film make enough money, why would Tomino think they'd be a hit if they had their own movie?

Sarcasm aside, according to Box Office Mojo "Matrix Revolutions" made $424,945,173 million dollars worldwide. How much money is "enough"?
Besides, "Gundam" is a popular franchise (at least it is Japan), so who knows (I really doubt that this movie will ever be made though)...
I only hope that this movie (if it ever gets made) will be better than "G-Saviour".

I hope this is just a hoax because a Hollywood Gundam movie would just be G Saviour with better special effects and lame actors.

I'd say Matrix's mechs were closer to low-end Labors than they were mobile suits. Wink

-blink-

Is that a serious question?

The mechs used in Matrix were a small piece of the movie. The Gundams and other mechs are a major aspect of Gundam.

It's like saying "The Ferrari in National Treasure didn't help sell that movie, why would someone thing that a movie about a bunch of tuners will do well?"

There's no comparisson between the two, apples & granite.

Hmmm, I found this in Gunota Headlines:

Quote:
Afterall, it wasn't true
Last week, Aintitcoolnews.com reported a rumor about a live action movie based on Gundam. However, that rumor is false as Tomino hasn't been to Italy recently. Tomino is currently too busy working on the rest of the Zeta movies. Aintitcoolnews.com has now deleted the news off their site.
