About halfway through Kenshin says to Tomoe "I forgot how beautiful the harvest moon is" where then Tomoe replies "I saw red dragonflies this evening". This is only in sub. version and changed to something different in the dub.

I was wondering if the red dragonfly is suppose to be a symbol of something in Japanese culture. Maybe harvest time since Kenshin and Tomoe were talking about the harvest moon.

I'm not 100% sure, but I hear that different colored dragonflies usually represent the current season. I also hear there is a folk song called Aka-tonbo (literally, "red dragonfly") that children used to (or maybe still do) know. In this particular case, I think the red dragonfly is suppose to represent the coming of Fall. However, having absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about Japan's harvesting seasons, this remains only a guess.

This is where im usefull....i am a Mythology nut; Norse, Japanese, Celtic.

It is more or less just a common form to come back as...Colors i dont know about but there fallows a story of a child who died and hir mother wept for him. the boy came back as a Dragon-fly.

There is also the idea if you write a certain idiograph in the air, you can freeze the dragon-fly you wish to catch.

thats all i know.
