I wonder if the otaku will accept to 'used goods' though
Anything that means I might get more Tsugumi animated in a Kannagi 2 makes me happy <3

Good to hear, would probably be better news to me if I actually read the series.

After some time of inactivity, some girls can regrow their hymen.
2 years may be long enough.

Bah. I hope Eri sticks to her guns. She should write the story that *she* wants to write. Furthermore, I hope other manga-ka join her in demolishing a very unrealistic and unfair view of equating (lack of) sexual activity with spiritual purity.

I agree with you on this one TOG. I do hope other mangaka follow suit as well. Spiritual purity can still exist even if someone is sexually active. The otaku should accept this.

To be fair the whole thing came out of nowhere can't blame the Otaku's being pissed. I'll be like reading Ah! My Goddess where Bell suddenly says she's not a virgin not what readers would expect out of that type of series. When reading Kannagi you wouldn't expect this sort of series to have a is she a virgin or not issue to be brought unless it's some sort of a joke not to be taken seriously.
Anyways it's not only an Otaku thing, same thing happened with Marvel/Spiderman. They made an arc a few years back about Gwen Stacy's, Peter Parker's first love. Where we get to find out the most loveable female character's in U.S. comics was actually a bit of a slut all along and that she got pregnant by Peter's archenemy Norman Osborn/Green Goblin while she was away in Paris and still dating Peter. This did not go well with readers and is considered one of the worst written series in the the past decade, even the writer of that arc says he hates it and admits it was a mistake. It ruined Gwen Stacy's character.

Makes me wonder if said people are still burning their Kannagi manga or if that craze ended years ago. But it's still possible that is still happening, given how angry some fans were initially.
Zoddguts: But isn't Belldandy dating Kenchi (or whatever is name is) so what this situation any different than the Kannagi situation?

I think there's a biiiiiiiig differance between just having a past relationship and cheating on your boyfriend in Paris with an older man who happens to be a psychotic supervillain and having fast-aging children with him in secret.
And I'd like to see the law that states that a girl needs to be a virgin in order to have a nice, pleasant personality. Having consensual sexual relations in the past doesn't make you an impure little whore, even if it's not with the male, milquetoast, audience surrogate character
The whole backlash just goes to show the inherant insecurities some very loud anime fans seem to have.

And that's why any author should do their work. It's a story they want to tell. Don't let outsiders dictate their work. If people don't like it sales will dictate it. That's the fun part of capitalism.
