Is this a good thing, or a bad thing? Also, what about the untold amounts of manga still on retailers shelves? Will those be put on clearance, or languish at MSRP?

Basically whatever's on shelves are the last of what's going to be available. I imagine they'll only be cleared out when stores need room on their shelves. So I guess grab whatever you can before they're all gone.

Maybe another company will pick up the rights to Chibi Vampire and AiON. Since every Chibi Vampire book except the 9th novel was published and her new series AiON was picked up, I assume that Yuna Kagesaki material has been profitable. Hopefully we can soon get the final Chibi Vampire novel and the new series, AiON.

No more Gosick
Considering Tokyopop's vast collection of licenses, that's going to put a huge dent in the US manga market.

No kidding, hopefully their catalogue (or at least some of it) will be picked-up by other companies (particularily Nina my Love, Deadman Wonderland, Aria (which has switched publishers once already), Butterfly, and the multiple Kingdom Hearts series)

The only series I was following from Tokyopop was Loveless and the two .hack spin-offs.
Neither which I think will be licensed after this. Loveless' popularity has more or less died off with it's slow schedule. As for .hack, even I was stunned at how TP clinged to that franchise. Even as a fan, I didn't think it was popular enough in America to justify licensing every printed media spin-off.

Hanako and the Terror of Allegory Volume 4 (Hanako & the Terror of Allegory) (Paperback) by Sakae Esuno
The last volume which was shorted for most retailers is selling for $75.00 to $177.00.
Thank you Tokyopop for shorting us and making the price astronomical for a $10.00 manga.

It says manga licenses, but did they mention novel/light-novel licenses? I imagine those are also reverting back.
Here's hoping someone (Yen Press) picks up Twelve Kingdoms.

considering it appears that Kodansha and Del Rey worked things out well when it came to dealing with any issues that came up with the Kodansha titles Del Rey had licensed when Kodansha decided to open their US branch it's possible Del Rey may get it. I don't believe they've worked with Japanese literature, but they have been a big sci-fi and fantasy publisher in North America for decades. Twelve Kingdoms wouldn't be that different from some of the titles they've published in the past in terms of genre. it is more likely Yen Press or maybe Vertical (which, after all, Kodansha now owns 1/3 of) will get it IF someone rescues it.

Well, I went out and bought the rest of the Fruits Baskets and .hacks I was after. However, I'm still curious on .hack//GU novel vol 4... The crazy thing is it GOT PRINTED. It exists and has been photographed, since they sold 2 copies at their garage sale I want it so bad! I only have vol 1, but I'm reluctant on getting 2 and 3 just in case I'll never get my hands on 4...
But, it may have been printed as a staff copy, but never mass produced. That really sucks.

Would love to see Yen Press pick up the long neglected Kino no Tabi light novel series. They've been doing quite well with Kieli and Spice & Wolf in terms of quality, so they'd likely do it well and it would fit in with their current catalog. And so far, longer series have not seemed to bother them at all. Would be nice if someone finished out the Chibi Vampire novels as well.
The only TP manga I've been collecting lately are Rave Master (already taken by someone else anyway), Platinum Garden, Beyond the Beyond, Pearl Pink (all three of those TP already canceled awhile back), and of course D.N.Angel. Be nice to see them all rescued, but I suspect only D.N.Angel has much chance of it

The bolded title I agree with, as well as Hetalia, Chibisan Date, the Full Metal Panic! novels, and the final volume of Alice in the Country of Hearts. With DMP being interested, that's at least something, but hopefully Yen Press, Viz, and Kodansha/Del Ray may step in to pick up the dropped titles as well (Yen Press specifically for the light novel releases, since they are doing very well on their releases for Haruhi and Spice and Wolf).

I'd make a pretty safe bet on Viz picking up Maid-sama!, as well as Fruits Basket. (Viz really dropped the ball on not licensing those two, barring whatever potential circumstance we may not be privy to.)
Some of the "longer shot" titles I'm hoping Viz will pick up for re-release are V.B. Rose and Kare Kano. Maybe even Karakuri Odette, though a re-release of that so soon after it's been completed probably doesn't make much sense.
