I like the Gravi OST too, Kal-san. Sleepless Beauty and Glaring Dream will always be my favorites. Anime smile

I agree with everyone on Yoko Kanno and The Pillows (FLCL). You can't go wrong with any of the soundtracks they've done. Yuki Kajiura does awesome work on Noir and dot/hack, and I'm really loving her songs on the Madlax OST. Just beautiful.

I've always been a fan of Tsuneo Imahori, the guitarist for Kanno's oh-so-cool band The Seatbelts. I thought his work on Trigun and Gungrave were awesome and the music seems to give more meaning to the characters and the story. If you liked the shows, you should really pick up the OSTs for these two.

I recently got the Samurai Champloo OSTs, and I thought they were pretty good. I don't usually listen to hip hop, but most of the tracks had nice mellow beats (mostly in Departure) and it was more like easy listening to me. Not everyone's cup of tea, but you never know if you might like it until you listen. Not to mention I'm a big fan of the show. Smile

Lately, I've really been wanting an anime cd. Not necessarily of an anime I've seen or heard of. If anyone wants to make suggestions, then please feel free to do it.

Sorry I don't know any

I can't believe that no one has mentioned soundtracks of Hayao Miyazaki's movies composed by Joe Hisaishi. They started cooperation since Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, and the music scores of all following films directed by Miyazaki (Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and the newest Howl's Moving Castle) were written by Hisaishi. They are all masterpieces of movie soundtracks. More information at Nausicaa.net.

Ah I can't believe I forgot the Miyazaki film soundtracks! I absolutely loved the Spirited Away music, it was just amazing. It's one of those pieces of music that you'll never forget. Wink

Definitely go for something Yoko Kanno has done. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Escaflowne OSTs. They're phenomenal. The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the best in the world, and they shine brilliantly when playing Yoko Kanno's music. The first Escaflowne OST (Over the Sky), the Escaflowne Motion Picture OST and "Lovers Only" are amazing. I know that the motion picture OST is for sure available domestically, but I don't know about the other two. Watch out for bootlegs if you decide to get the imports.

I didn't know about 23ji no Ongaku, Iron Chef! Thanks for the info. I'll definitely check it out.

I'll chime in right quick:

Haibane Renmei-Good for days when you just want to chill out at home and marvel at Ko Otani's masterful use of strings and piano. The songs range from upbeat and quirky to sombre. "Free Bird" is the most accurate title for a musical number ever.

Boogiepop Phantom-Has a lot of good trance and dub tracks. It's how I discovered Ming+FS.

Read or Die-The soundtrack of the OVA is the one I'm referring to here. The composer is Taku Iwasaki and if you like espionage jazz tunes mixed with avant-garde European fare, this soundtrack is for you.
