I finally have a chance to watch The Place Promised In Our Early Days. I'll also be able to rewatch 5 Centimeters Per Second, and Voices Of A Distant Star legally. I should really buy the DVD's/BD's/whatever of these three.

so, is there a reason it took bandai 2 years to rerelease 5cm per second? I mean I'm perfectly happy with my adv copy, but they acquired that license a while ago and premiered he dub on shinkai day 2 years ago and they choose now to finally put it on the market? ....ok, in other news I will be watching voices of distant star.

I'm still trying to figure out this whole "Global Shinkai Day" thing. The guy has like four movies in his entire resume. I guess it's Crunchyroll can't afford Miyazaki properties?

The article fails to mention that the 3 movies are available on Crunchyroll now 3/10 through 3/14. More like Shinkai Weekend-extended.

If you haven't seen any of these then you should. All very good stories and amazingly animated.

I watched Voices for the first time on the first Shinkai Day, and watched Place Promised - also for the first time - last year. I own 5 Centimeters via ADV's release and will not purchase the Crunchyroll/Bandai release, so this year's Shinkai Day may very well get me to watch the Bang Zoom! dub for the sake of curiosity and compare the two.

I don't own "Early Days" so I watch it every year on Shinkai Day. The other two I own on DVD, but I'll likely watch them this weekend as well, maybe even on Crunchyroll since I still haven't heard the Bandai/CR dub of 5cm/s

Bandai has yet to schedule a 5cm BD release. I do not understand why they are not tapping the demand for it.
