I'm passing on both. I'm getting the first season of Queen's Blade on BD, and so I'll be doing the same for the second. Now that we know their plan (three DVD singles and then a DVD and BD collection) I'm kind of surprised they're still doing singles and not jumping straight to the collections, you know, like they said would when they said they aren't going to be doing singles anymore. OK, I get it, QB, made you some big money, but don't do this anymore. I don't get how there can me 5 major players in the in R1 market, but only two them (Funimation and Section 23) actually know how to play the game, while the other three are complete idiots.

Hmm, when MB announced a while back that they were abandoning the singles volume release strategy, I was kind of hoping that meant they'd be doing what Funi and Section 23 do: releasing 12 and 13 eppies seasons as complete sets. Releasing a show in a six eppie chunk is an improvement over a three or four eppie block, but not quite the full stretch I'd like.

Hah, I didn't even notice that! I still stand by words, though. The way Funimation and Section 23 release things in 12-13 episode chunks is THE way to do it nowadays. Releasing a one cour show in halves is just kind of...sad and very Bandai-like.

So I guess when they said that Kanokon was their last singles release, so they were sorta telling the truth since they are going away from the 3-4 epi DVD of yesteryears to 6 episode releases.

I'm going to wait on QB 2 so see if it will get a BD release in the future (I'm still waiting on the QB 1 BD) I like my fanservice HD thank you very much.

I would dispute the notion that any of them really know how to play the game. It's just that they all fail in their own unique and in some cases, relatively less devastating ways. But yes, I agree. The fact that Media Blasters is still in business is quite miraculous.

That's certainly interesting. I'm now torn as to weather I should get this now or hope for a BD that may never materialize. Although, after watching the clip Media Blasters posted when they first announced it and seeing how it's only $20 (for now), I may just go ahead and get it.

If it helps, it looks like Daryl Surat asked MB about a BD on Twitter, and the reply was:

The answer - "We will eventually, but probably not 2011" and "it may go 1st to a HD service like xbox or psn before the blu-ray."

Why would you openly admit to eventually releasing a BD when you just solicited your DVD? See, now I'm definitely not buying the DVD because there is a planned BD release. I mean, if it's already planned, why not release them simultaneously?
