It looks like I've triggered an algorithm that has identified me as someone who consistently tries to manipulate the percentages either up or down. Oh, well.....

I try to add enlightening commentary, but let's face it:
I'm far from perfect.

    EDIT: 2020-12-31
I have seen two three videos that examine the concept of "classics" from distinctly different perspectives:
  1. Gigguk | Garnt Maneetapho

  2. Mother's Basement | Geoff Thew

  3. Bonsai Pop | Mike ?
EDIT: 2020-04-11
In this video YouTube user Gigguk (Garnt Maneetapho) talks about SAO in the context of gateway anime.
2 Videos That Share a Common Theme:
  1. "The Greatest Thing Anime Has Done"|Gigguk (Garnt Maneetapho)
  2. "A Love Letter to a Place Further than the Universe" | Isla McTear (Line/link added 2020-06-24)

Seen/Read All (public list) Rating
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season (TV) Good
Pro: Nice OP/ED
Con: I do not care for the metaphysical/paranormal explanation that is proffered.
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 (TV) Very good
Pro: Nice OP/ED
Con: It is too ambitious -- It is not able to deliver the promised payoff.
Momo: The Girl God of Death (TV) Excellent (dub), Masterpiece (sub)

THERE'S A LIGHT NOVEL AS WELL!!!
  1. A shinigami with a shinigami ID card...... (didn't see that one coming!)
The shinigami who cries for the dead who cannot cry.
  2. So the older sister died during a scheduled operation.
A shinigami with a personality -- and an unexpected ending! (PRO)
  3. So Momo the Shinigami was playing a "game" with the boy at the grandfather's behest. Also, an unexpected ending (PRO)
  4. So Momo the Shinigami and "Daniel" are now babysitting!
Chiaki's mother teaches her how to make french toast.
Momo is NOT a 2-dimensional character. (PRO)
  5. So an elementary school student (boy) has better cognitive function than a middle school student (girl)?! (CON)
So Momo is acting like a social worker on the side.... (PRO)
I can't help but wonder: Just how lonely is Momo?
  6. So in the end, Momo is a shinigami who spends a lot of time acting as a social worker. Is this because she feels lonely and finds meaning in her existence by helping others? Or am I projecting myself onto her character?
ADR Directors:
Monster (TV) Very good
Saw this on the old SciFi/SyFy Manga Entertainment programming block.
Strongly recommended by Tristan "Arkada" Gallant on his channel Glass Reflection.

"Explaining The Ending of Monster"| esfelectra

"The Brilliance of Naoki Urasawa's 'Monster' "| Aleczandxr

"An Examination of Detective Lunge & Eva Heinemann (Monster)"| Aleczandxr

"Kenzo Tenma and Johan Liebert: Two Sides of the Same Coin (Monster)"| Aleczandxr

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun (TV) Excellent (dub & sub)
The O.S.T. is very good! Plus, the ending is not predictably sappy.
Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (TV) Excellent (dub & edit.dub & sub)
  • Moribito is similar to Gunslinger Girls in that it is not primarily an action flick. The visuals are very good, however. Plot and character development are quite good. Just as in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex it takes a while before the female lead's back story is fleshed out. Not for those looking for nonstop action.
  • I later found out that for whatever bizarre reason that that the production committee did not license the light novel series; it only licensed the first novella ─ and that novella only had enough material for ~12 episodes. That's why ½ of the series is filler. To give you an idea as to just how bizarre this is, please consider the last scene of the last episode. That scene is directly related to the beginning of the 2nd novella.
Murder Princess (OAV) Decent
My Beautiful Girl Mari (Korean movie) Very good (dub), Excellent (sub)
The English dub was directed by Carl Macek (of Robotech fame). He should have used actual children for the child roles. (Or maybe not.)
My Dress-Up Darling (TV) Excellent (dub), Masterpiece (sub)
I really, really identify with Gojō Watana.
My Happy Marriage (TV) Masterpiece (dub & sub)
I heavily identify with Miyo Saimori.
My Little Monster (TV) Excellent
My Neighbor Totoro (movie) Excellent
2020-06-17
I had no idea that I had never rated this movie before -- and I've even seen it in a theater! But I do not recall if I've seen the dub. I'm not rating it at 11/11 because I'm not a young child.
My-HiME (TV) Very good (dub & sub)
Rise of the Dark Magical Girls
  • A second viewing of the series is required in order to understand and appreciate the hidden meanings of all of the exhibited mannerisms and allusions of and by the various characters "in the know". Also, the very last scene alludes to the spin-off series.....
  • I would have rated it higher; but so many of the girls are objectified.....
  • The OST is good! (All of it!)
My-Otome (TV) Good
The plot really doesn't get into gear until about ⅓ into the series..... Also, sexual intercourse denies the girls their agency?!
My-Otome 0~S.ifr~ (OAV) Very good
Watch this prequel AFTER watching Mai-Otome.
