Fuji TV began streaming a preview for the first episode of the live-action Nobunaga Concerto series on Tuesday. The video features the drama's main theme song, "Ashioto ~Be Strong" (Sound of Footsteps ~Be Strong) by Mr. Children.
Shun Oguri plays the main role of Saburō, as well as his counterpart Nobunaga. The cast also stars Osamu Mukai, Kou Shibasaki, Daisuke Fujigaya, Kaho, Naoto Fujiki, Gaku Hamada, Masahiro Takashima, Takayuki Yamada, as well as others.
The story of Ayumi Hashii's original manga centers around Saburō, a high school boy who time-travels to Japan's Sengoku Era. He must become Oda Nobunaga, the famed warlord who helps unite Japan.
The manga inspired an anime series in July, and the drama television series will be followed by a live-action film. The television series will premiere on Fuji TV on October 13 at 9:00 p.m. JST. The first episode will be a 90-minute special.
Ishii launched the manga in the inaugural issue of Gessan in 2009, and Shogakukan published the 10th compiled volume in May. The manga ranked #10 in the Male Readers category of the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" list by Takarajimasha Inc. in 2012. The manga was nominated for the fifth Manga Taisho awards in 2012, and it won the Boys' Category of the 57th Shogakukan Manga Awards later that year.
