(Viz Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative manga and animation licensing and publishing companies, announces the appointment of Tonik Barber as Senior Vice President, Business Affairs and General Counsel. Barber assumed her new position on October 20th and will be working alongside Viz Media management, contributing to business development, strategic planning and initiatives, as well as managing the company's wide-ranging legal and business affairs activities.
Prior to joining Viz Media, Barber served for 10 years as Director of Business Affairs for Lucasfilm Ltd. where she managed business affairs and legal matters for George Lucas's STAR WARS™ and INDIANA JONES™ brands. Previously Barber was Vice President of Motown Corporation and partner in a major entertainment law firm. She received her J.D. degree from Stanford Law School and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University.
