Yu-Gi-Oh! GX to Air on Cartoon Network

4Kids Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: KDE - News), a global provider of children's entertainment and merchandise licensing, announced the next chapter of the successful Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise with the premiere of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. Set a generation in the future and appealing to a younger audience, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will debut on Cartoon Network beginning this October.

"We're extremely excited to begin the next chapter in the wonderful world of Yu-Gi-Oh!," said Alfred R. Kahn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of 4Kids Entertainment. "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will bring a new, brighter look that should resonate with the younger viewers. It's a great extension for the franchise and we're confident that fans of the original series will fall in love with GX as much as first time viewers will."

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will chronicle the lives of students at the famous Duel Academy, where hundreds of children learn the intricate and popular art of dueling. Supported by a major trading card program and an extensive licensing and merchandising campaign, the series will build on the momentum and popularity of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series.

"We think Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is an awesome new series," said Terry Kalagian, vice president of acquisitions and co-productions for Cartoon Network. "Yu-Gi-Oh! has been a top-rated series on our air and we are excited to have GX premiere on Cartoon Network."

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Synopsis

A generation in the future, in a land inaccessible to the rest of the world, is the premiere dueling high school Duel Academy! This special boarding school educates promising young duelists to achieve their full potential. However, little do people realize that one of the greatest duelists of all time is about to arrive in the incoming class.

The students, based on a combination of duelist rankings and exams, are separated into three dorms. The most advanced students reside in Obelisk Blue. The second tier lives in Ra Yellow. The duelists with the lowest grades are in Slifer Red. Class conflicts have stood for many years with the higher-ranked dorms teasing the lower dorms, but the status quo is about to turn on its head with the newest arrival!
