Akane Kumada's career kicked off when she won the Grand Prix at the Anisong Stars audition in 2017. After that, she went on to voice Ichiko Oda in Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga, Ellen in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Mina in Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist, and Hibiki Morishima in Healer Girl.

In January 2020, she voiced Ichiko Oda, one of the main characters in Cinnamon Nobunaga, and made her debut as an artist with the opening theme song “Sunny Sunny Girl.” Since then, she has sung the opening theme songs for several other popular works, including The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Super Cub, and Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist, as well as the ending theme song for Kizuna Taikan TV: Mobile Suit Gundam Dai-07 Itakura Shoutai ~Yuku Kizuna Kuru Kizuna~. In recent years, she has been active in not only anime, but also a wide range of other activities, including appearing in the stage play Assault Lily Irma Girls' Art High School and taking on her first heroine role in the musical Montblanc - Twilight ROUTE 69.
