Diancie, Shiny Gengar Gamestop Pokemon Treats For Halloween

BELLEVUE, WA‹September 8, 2014The Pokémon Company International today revealed that from October 13 through October 26, 2014, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video game players in the United States can get a special Shiny Gengar holding a Gengarite Mega Stone via a special code card distribution at participating GameStop stores. Players can Mega Evolve this Shiny Gengar into Shiny Mega Gengar during battles. Also, as an early Halloween treat from Pokémon, beginning October 13, 2014, fans can purchase a Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-Pack at participating GameStop locations in the U.S. while supplies last. Each Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-Pack includes two 10-card booster packs from the Pokémon TCG: XY‹Furious Fists expansion, as well as the Gengar Spirit Link Pokémon Trainer card that debuts in the Pokémon TCG: XY‹Phantom Forces expansion, launching nationwide November 5, 2014.

Additionally, players can get the long-awaited Mythical Pokémon Diancie for Pokémon X or Pokémon Y at participating GameStop locations in the U.S. from October 27 through November 16, 2014. Once players receive Diancie via the special in-store code card distribution, they can transfer it into Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire when the video games launch November 21, 2014, for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. After obtaining the Diancite Mega Stone in the new games, players can Mega Evolve Diancie into Mega Diancie during battles. When players pick up the Shiny Gengar and Diancie distribution code cards at participating GameStop locations, they can also preorder Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Both distributions precede the launch of the Pokémon TCG: XY‹Phantom Forces expansion on November 5, when Gengar-EX, Mega Gengar-EX, and Diancie make their Pokémon TCG debut.

Key features of Pokémon TCG: XY ­Phantom Forces include:

  • Two new Mega Pokémon-EX cards‹The expansion features the incredibly powerful Mega Gengar- EX and Mega Manectric-EX.
  • Seven new Pokémon-EX cards and four new full-art Pokémon-EX Rare Ultra cards‹New Pokémon-EX cards include Gengar-EX, Manectric-EX, Malamar-EX, Florges-EX, Dialga-EX, and Aegislash-EX.
  • New ³Full Metal² Dialga-EX‹Special card features etched artwork and solid ³metal² color.
  • Diancie makes its Pokémon TCG debut‹Mythical Pokémon Diancie makes its debut in-step with the Diancie distribution for the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games. The Diancie distribution runs October 27 ­ November 16, 2014, at participating GameStop stores in the United States.
  • Seven ³Team Flare² Trainer cards and two special ³Team Flare Hyper Gear² Pokémon Tool cards‹Seven Trainer cards feature Team Flare members like Lysandre and Xerosic. The two Team Flare Hyper Gear Pokémon Tool cards can be used to hinder opponent¹s Pokémon, the first such cards in Pokémon TCG.
  • Booster packs‹Packs of 10 additional cards selected from the expansion will sell for $3.99.
  • Two new theme decks‹60-card pre-constructed decks are designed to introduce players to the Pokémon TCG by enabling them to play right away. Theme decks will sell for $12.99 each.
