Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Moves to Toronto This Weekend

TORONTO WELCOMES Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES Returns to Canada for the First Major North American Event of the Season

First Time “Ultra Rare” Version of the “Ascension Sky Dragon” Prize Card is Available Throughout the Americas

EL SEGUNDO, CA (September 3, 2014) – Duelists are ready to invade Canada's “Megacity” for a shot to win fame and prizes at the Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) event, in Toronto, Canada, presented by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI). From September 5th – 7th, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will be filled with hundreds of Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Duelists competing in the game made famous by the Yu-Gi-Oh! TV animated series. The first place winners will receive an Ultra Rare version of the Ascension Sky Dragon prize card – the first time this card has been available to Duelists in the Americas!

Duelists will unveil new strategies and Decks at the first North American YCS event since a new Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Champion was crowned at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship in Rimini, Italy earlier this month. YCS Toronto marks the first premier-level event after the release of the latest booster set Duelist Alliance.

Hoping to go down in Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG history, seasoned Duelists, as well as optimistic novice players, are making the journey to Toronto, where all Duelists will vie for the chance to advance to the Final Round on Sunday for the opportunity to Duel for the title of Champion.
YCS Toronto will also be the first appearance for Decks featuring Pendulum Monsters to be legal and ready for play. Pendulum Monsters are half Monster Card and half Spell Card and can swing the tide of battle with Pendulum Summoning, a powerful new game mechanic for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG.

Pre-registration for YCS Toronto will run from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. September 5th and continue promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6th. Upon registering, Duelists will receive five Duelist Alliance booster packs for participating in KONAMI's YCS Toronto. Round One will start at 10:00 a.m. and the Top 32 YCS finishers will earn invitations to participate in the 2015 World Championship qualifier. The Top 16 Duelists will draft cards from the recently launched Battle Pack 3: Monster League and will use Decks built solely from this product to compete for the championship.

Event Address:
Metro Toronto Convention Centre

Accompanying the Main Event, KONAMI will be conducting Dragon Duels (for Duelists born in 2002 or later). The top four finishers in the Dragon Duel events will receive winners' medals, win a Dragon Duel T-Shirt, 2015 Regional Game Mat and an invitation to the 2015 World Championship Qualifier and Dragon Duel Championship. The victors from Saturday and Sunday will face off in a head-to-head playoff matchup to determine the weekend's overall winner and the chance to hoist the Dragon Duel Championship trophy!

Additionally, a full range of Public Events such as Regional Qualifiers, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, Win-A-Mat, Battle Pack, and Battle City Tournaments will be held through the weekend.

The Main Event winner, the two runners-up and winners of Sunday's two Public Event playoffs will each be awarded a YCS prize card.
