Otakon Vegas to Feature Famed Animation Director Masahiro Ando
Las Vegas, NV (November 18, 2013) – Otakon Vegas is pleased to feature Animation Director Masahiro Andō to its premiere show.
Ever since 1987, Masahiro Andō has worked extensively as an animator in the industry. He has built such a portfolio that he is well known as an “action animator” on par with Yutaka Nakamura in the anime industry. He has had a hand in titles such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell (Movie), and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie.
In the early 2000's, he started working on storyboards and as an episode director in shows such as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Hanasaku Iroha - Blossoms for Tomorrow amongst many other works.
In 2007, he directed an original animated film Sword of the Stranger, an action packed historical drama at the Bones studio. The movie was critically acclaimed and won the Best Animated Feature at Brazil's FANTASPOA in 2008. In 2009, the film received the Menzione Speciale award at the 11th Future Film Festival in Bologna, Italy.
His other directorial works include CANAAN and Blast of Tempest.
Otakon Vegas 2014 will be held January 3-5 at the Planet Hollywood Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
