Anime Weekend Atlanta is proud to host 4chan's 10th year anniversary celebration
ATLANTA - Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) will host 4chan.org
's tenth anniversary celebration during their annual convention at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel, Cobb Galleria Centre and Sheraton Suites Galleria on Sept. 27-29, 2013.
"4chan was originally founded to discuss manga and anime, and was modeled on the Japanese imageboard, 2chan,” said Faisal Ahmed, CEO. “We're proud to recognize their ten years of Internet dominance.”
A surprise guest for AWA, 4chan founder moot will be hosting the event along with fellow guest shut. The panel will also be featuring a number of other familiar faces from the 4chan family and will take place Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. in Main Events room.
4chan is an imageboard, a type of internet forum, which mostly posts images. The website is divided into various boards with their own specific content and guidelines; one of its main six categories on the front page is dedicated specifically to Japanese culture and anime. Registration is neither required nor possible, allowing for sometimes-viewed controversial anonymity of the internet. 4chan users have also been responsible for the formation or popularization of Internet memes, such as LoLcats and Rickrolling.
"4chan allows free thought and we agree with that principle, you as a visitor to the site, choose what you do and do not see." said Ahmed. "If you are unable to make the live event, you can check out 4chan.org/news for information about the livestream. (TBA)
Please note that no bags or large items are allowed into this panel. Electronic Noise Makers are banned from this event, as well as all replica weapons (even peace boned). Please make sure to leave them in your hotel room or in your car for safekeeping.
