Writer and Voice Actor Donald F. Glut to Appear as Guest of Honor at BlasterCON 2013
WOODLAND HILLS, CA – BlasterCON, Los Angeles's newest retro science fiction convention, is pleased to announce the appearance of writer and voice actor, Donald F. Glut. Perhaps best known for his best-selling novelization of The Empire Strikes Back, Mr. Glut is one of those "hardest working men" in show business — producing, writing, acting, directing, and everything else in between... that is, when he isn't authoring books, playing music, or doing something that involves dinosaurs.
Donald F. Glut is a director/writer of low-budget independent motion pictures (mostly low-budget/campy/sexy horror films, most recently Blood Scarab; author of approximately 70 books (novels including a national best-seller The Empire Strikes Back and non-fiction, e.g. Dinosaurs: The Encyclopedia series), short stories, comic books (creator of The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor, Dagar the Invincible and Tragg and the Sky Gods), TV shows (live action and animation), music, articles, etc. He was a monster-magazine editor (e.g., Modern Monsters) and is a musician, photographer, lecturer and actor (most recently doing voice-over acting for Japanese-language anime and live-action movies).
During the late 1960s he played bass guitar in the Penny Arkade, a rock band produced by then-“Monkee” Mike Nesmith. Don has been associated with such franchises as Transformers, Masters of the Universe, Twilight Zone, Tarzan, Captain America, Vampirella, G.I. Joe and others. He is also a volunteer fossil preparator at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
BlasterCON is a three-day general SF/Fantasy convention, with a late-70s/80s retro attitude and an emphasis on history, hardware, and practical effects: models, puppets, props, costumes and makeup. BlasterCON will be on May 10-12, 2013 at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, CA and will feature vendors, panels, workshops, Laser Tag, music, Game Grid Cafe, vintage Coin-Op arcade games, gaming, and cosplay. Registration, with discounts, is open now at www.BlasterCON.org.
