Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent: TAKII 15 ~GlamazASIANS~ Gets "Untucked" and "Unveiled"
February 4th, 2013 -- Upper Darby, PA -- As is so often said, behind every great man is an even greater woman. In the case of Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Kamen had Sailor Moon. What is also true is that behind the face of some women is the Body & Soul of an equally strong man; such would be the case for Asian American drag queens & RuPaul's Drag Race alumni Jujubee & Manila Luzon. Marrying these concepts together is the fact that throughout the history of Asian culture fandom, people have been able to live vicariously through the vibrant, fantasy-woven lives of the many female characters that have existed (& continue to do so) in our beloved genre. And it was with that in mind that The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational wanted to celebrate these very special ladies by way of our newest season, TAKII 15 ~GlamazASIANS~!
TAKII 15 ~GlamazASIANS~ will be taking place from Philly, PA's The Rotunda on May 25th & 26th, 2013 (with hours of operation slated to be 9:00am - 11:00pm on both days). To make sure that you have your chance to make HERstory at this particularly epic season, we strongly encourage everyone to pre-reg for our "never leave home without them" #1 Contender's Passes (required to enter a season of TAKII) & Vendor Table Slots (vendor space to sell your swag & raise live awareness about your brand)! Until March 11th, 2013, fusion festival fans worldwide will have the opportunity to purchase these important permissions at our lowest discount rates available ($8.00 per Pass & $60.00 per Table Slot). Due to the fact that iterations of The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational have become increasingly more popular than past seasons, there will be limits placed on the number of available #1 Contender's Pass & Vendor Table Slot pre-regges available. Once those pre-reg chances run out, you won't be able to pre-reg again until our 2nd pre-reg deadline. Upon arrival to the fiercest fusion festival around, just what will be are your fingertips to enjoy? By way of our TAKII Coordinator Classix & TAKII Family Favorites, festivities in each of our "Music", "Gaming", "Vendor", & "Omake" flavors will be given a fresh make-over that is sure to make everyone gag with glee. Our very own ever-innovative "TAKII Show" will now be infused with a bonus round known as "Lip Sync FYL" (with "FYL standing for "For Your Life")! Made famous by RuPaul's Drag Race (as Jujubee & Manila Luzon can attest), contestants of the "TAKII Show" will be made to lip sync to random Asian music tracks as they battle to own the stage in their quest for our titular "TAKII Show" crown. Even "Cosplay Battle Royale" is being infused with from Ru-spired awesomeness as seasoned cosplayers take costume newbies under their wing in a setting reminiscent of RuPaul's Drag U for absolutely awesome prizes & TAKII glory! Making their returns to this 15th season of The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational, "Returning Legends" D-chan, [Ai], & Dokudel signed up as soon as they all heard that ~GlamazASIANS~ was being conceptualized. Team TAKII is also working feverishly on bringing some drag royalty into "the most extreme Asian culture fusion festival" to become some of our "Brand New Debuts" (& we can't wait to unveil....or "untuck"....who we are planning on working with this season)! Other special guests & performers are in the process of being screened & announcements on their respective arrivals will be made at the proper time. TAKII has been blessed beyond relief to work with some of the most amazing talents in our area of fandom in the past (Mandy Mefford, Mario Bueno, Sinh, & Sneko....to name a select few) & we see this trend continuing even stronger than ever before.
