Tora-Con 2013 Announces Dates, Pre-Registration, and First Round of Guests

ROCHESTER, NY – November 20, 2012

The RIT Anime Club is pleased to announce dates for this year's Tora-Con as well as pre-registration prices and our first round of guests: Christopher R. Sabat, Monica Rial, and Todd Haberkorn.

Chris Sabat is best known from the Dragonball Z fame, being the voice director as well as the voice of countless characters such as Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha, Mr. Popo, Kami, Recoome, Korin, Shenron, Zarbon, Guru, Porunga, and many others. Some characters from other series he voiced also include: Alex Luis Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist, Roronoa Zoro from One Piece, Ayame Sohma from Fruits Basket, Saiga Tatsumi from Speed Grapher, Kurogane from Tsubasa Chronicles, Daisuke Jigen from Lupin III, Garland in Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Rundas in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Alex D in Deus X: Invisible War, and both Captain Smiley and Star in Comic Jumper. When he's not in studio, Chris Sabat spends as much time as possible with his wife Tabitha and his brand new baby girl, Hero.

Monica Rial has been working in the anime voice over industry for over 13 years. She has lent her voice talent to over 250 series and numerous characters including: Misuzu in Air TV, Nyamo in Azumanga Daioh, Chane in Baccano!, Mei Ren in Black Butler, Kyoko in Black Cat, Jo in Burst Angel, Felli in Chrome Shelled Regios, Fiore in Chrono Crusade, Miria in Claymore, Towa in DNAngel, Lero/LuluBell in D.Gray-man, Chihiro in E.F. a Tale of Memories, Hyatt in Excel Saga, Mirajane in Fairy Tail, Kyoko in Full Metal Panic!, Momoko in Ghost Stories, Angelica in Gunslinger Girl, Belarus in Hetalia, Shizuka in High School of the Dead, Kurau in Kurau: Phantom Memory, Hazuki in Moon Phase, Konoka, Kazumi, and Satsuki in Negima!, Kirika in Noir, Tashigi, Carue, and Kuina in One Piece, Renge in Ouran High School Host Club, Mayaya in Princess Jellyfish, Haruka in Rahxephon, Momoka in Sgt. Frog, Asa in Shuffle!, Kagura in Speed Grapher, Rio in Spiral, Tsubaki in Soul Eater, Sakura in Tsubasa Chronicles, and Maria in Witchblade. She also voices Ai in Shin-chan, May Chang in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Amy in Case Closed, Vanessa in Trinity Blood, and Bulma in Dragonball Z Kai. In addition, Monica works as an ADR script adaptor and occasional director in Funimation Entertainment properties.

Todd Haberkorn started in the anime industry doing bit roles for shows like Peach Girl and Black Cat but received his first major role as Suzuka in Yamato Akitski. Not long after, Todd began directing anime under line producers Colleen Clinkenbeard and Christopher Sabat while continuing his voice work for Funimation and video games. Some of his notable roles include: Natsu from Fairy Tail, Italy from Hetalia, Ling Yao from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Kerero from Sgt. Frog, Keiskuke from Initial D, Allen Walker from D.Gray-man, Hikaru in Ouran High School Host Club, Death the Kid in Soul Eater and many others. Todd also does work with his own company, Out of the Office Productions, which is one aspect of a long history of camera work in narrative film, commercials, and shorts.

Tora-Con 2013 will be held March 23rd through 24th, 2013 at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.

Pre-Registration is now available for $20 and will be for both Saturday and Sunday. Pre-registration forms are up on the official site (http://toracon.rit.edu). All vendor, artist alley, and volunteer forms are available at this time as well.

ABOUT TORA-CON: Tora-Con was created by the Rochester Institute of Technology Anime Club to provide anime and manga related entertainment to the Rochester area and beyond. The convention is planned and prepared by a dedicated Anime Club E-Board made up of RIT students.

ABOUT RIT ANIME CLUB: Founded in the early 1990s, the RIT Anime Club is one of the largest anime clubs in the country with over 150 active members. The purpose of the RIT Anime Club is to enrich the academic environment by stimulating the growth and appreciation of Anime as an art form as well as the awareness and understanding of Japanese Culture. The RIT Anime Club is a not-for-profit organization.
