BSO Collaborates with Otakon for Concert Featuring Anime and Video Games Scores, July 28

Baltimore, Md. (June 1, 2012)—The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) and conductor Philip Chu welcome Otakon enthusiasts for A Night in Fantasia: The Ultimate Games and Anime Experience on July 28, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program will feature selections from some of the greatest video game and anime scores in the world, including Final Fantasy VII, Diablo 3, Assassins Creed and Halo, all arranged especially for orchestra, with game stills and anime images projected above the Orchestra.

Produced by Eminence Symphony Orchestra founder Hiroaki Yura, the show also features video game music vocalist and Peabody Institute graduate Jillian Aversa, who has contributed to many soundtracks, including Soulcalibur V, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword. Video game blogger and music critic Larry Oji will serve as master of ceremonies. This concert is presented in collaboration with Otakon. Since 1999, this three-day convention in Baltimore–by fans, for fans–has attracted more than 25,000 people annually to celebrate anime and Asian pop culture.
