Zordon Lives: Pittsburgh's Tekkoshocon to Host March Debut of David Fielding
January 26, 2012 - PITTSBURGH, Pa - Beloved Power Ranger mentor Zordon lives again as actor David Fielding makes his convention debut at Japanese pop culture convention Tekkoshocon X, to be held March 21-25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Fielding provided the voice of Zordon for the initial run of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the US adaptation of Toei's Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, in 1993. He continued to appear as the image of Zordon, a "giant floating head" who bestowed powers and advice on the teenage Power Rangers, through the finale of Power Rangers in Space in 1999. In addition to his Power Rangers work, Fielding is well known on the Pittsburgh improvisational circuit as an inaugural performer at Friday Nite Improvs, the city's audience participation improv show, where he appeared frequently from 1989 through 1994.
Fielding will participate in a Q&A panel, autograph sessions, and other programming throughout the five day convention. Tekkoshocon opens on Wednesday, March 21 with an evening of screenings and games at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont. The convention then moves to the Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh for four full days from Thursday, March 22 through Sunday, March 25. Preregistration for entry to Tekkoshocon X is available at a discounted rate via the tekkoshocon.com webpage through February 29, 2012.
