A True Triforce: The Obama Campaign, Bawls Guarana, & Charles Cohen Make Their TAKII 6 Debuts

October 21st, 2008 -- Upper Darby, PA -- What do you get when you put together 1 of Philadelphia, PA's most infamous underground retro-DJs with a political celebrity juggernaut & an international energy drink sensation? You get the "main event" line-up of guests, performers, & sponsors for the 6th season of The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational ~NintenDecision 2008~ coming up this weekend!

CHARLES COHEN (PERFORMER ~ ELECTRONICA/SYNTH MUSICIAN)
Based in the Philadelphia area, Charles Cohen has been amazing & challenging audiences for over 20 years. His music is entirely improvisational & produced solely on a vintage Buchla Music Easle synthesizer. An avid collaborator, Cohen is most well known to (most) listeners from his work with Jeff Cain in their group The Ghostwriters.

With few recorded/commercially available works to his credit, Cohen prefers to concentrate on creating Electronic Music in the setting of the live performance space. His music ranges from completely abstract & challenging to pleasantly rhythmic & infectious. Each performance is original & new, to the audience & to Cohen as well. Charles explained once that the reason he isn't interested in making an album is because he doesn't believe in product. "If anyone likes my music that much," he says, "they can bother releasing it." Thankfully, in the past two years a few of Charles' recordings have found there way onto a few compilations: on a CD which accompanied Sound Collector #3, & on WKDU's SUBMIT Electronic Music Compilation.

In the Summer of 2004, Charles Cohen & D-chan combined forces to produce the Japanese/Korean vocal musician's 2nd EP demo CD, entitled "Ai no Chikara (The Power Of Love)" (available for purchase at PDNMZ CD Shoppe). Featuring tribute covers to themes from Bishoujo Senshi SailorMoon (Pretty Soldier SailorMoon) & Ken Hirai's "Love Is....Another Story", the musical outing proved to be Cohen's 1st foray into Asian music....& he hasn't regretted it since.

From Philly to NYC, Charles Cohen can be found sparring with all sorts of media artists, with this being his inaugural season with "the world's most extreme Asian culture fusion festival". Be-it as a wealth of knowledge on 1 of our talk shows, or as a live performer, he is a sight to be seen & a sound to be heard at TAKII 6!

THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN (GUESTS ~ c/o ASIAN AMERICANS FOR OBAMA)
After receiving an invite to appear this season at "the world's most extreme Asian culture fusion festival", volunteers affiliated with the Obama campaign couldn't resist! Asian Americans For Obama (AAFO) was founded in December 2006 to reach out to & organize the Asian Pacific American community to help elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States. By way of scheduled meet-ups, correspondence with the official campaign, & massive multimedia out-reach, Obama's plan for the Asian community is conveyed in a uniquely effective way everyone can understand & enjoy.

Now, the question begs to be asked -- just what kind of impact will this volunteer group from the Obama campaign have at TAKII 6 ~NintenDecision 2008~? Not only will AAFO be engaging the TAKII faithful outside & interacting with everyone inside at "Community Centrale", no sir. They'll be a part of our extreme-branded, weekend-long celebration that will be unlike anything a political campaign, nor an Asian event, has done before! For all of our offerings this season, TAKII is proud to have AAFO aboard. (NOTE: It deserves to be mentioned that The McCain Campaign was invited to participate as well, but they never RSVP'd -.-*).

BAWLS (OFFICIAL TAKII 6 USA BEVERAGE SPONSOR ~ ENERGY DRINKS)
BAWLS Guarana started as the brainchild of a recent college graduate who was looking for an alternative to coffee. As part of a class project, he came up with BAWLS – a premium, carbonated, non-alcoholic beverage made with Guarana. Named for the caffeinated 'Bounce' it gives you, BAWLS gets its flavor and kick from the Amazonian Guarana berry, which contains a natural form of caffeine nearly three times stronger than that found in traditional sodas.

Using the untapped potential of Guarana in the United States as a source for caffeine in soft drinks, BAWLS Guarana took off with surprising strength on November 14, 1996 in Miami, FL. People instantly fell in love with the refreshing, crisp taste of BAWLS, while being able to enjoy the rush of caffeine the drink packs.

Now on the market for nearly 12 years, BAWLS Guarana is available nationwide and its popularity continues to grow among caffeine-deprived, refreshment-seeking techies, students, professionals and athletes in need of a Bounce. Combine that with the enigmatic brand of intensity that can only be found at "the world's most extreme Asian culture fusion festival" & you get a partnership for the ages! Bawls reps will be on hand all day on Day 2 of TAKII 6, giving festival-goers free samples of some sexy drinks & showing them just why they are this season's official American Energy Drink Sponsor. This marks the 2nd official energy drink sponsorship TAKII has ever earned (with Red Bull being the 1st).

For more info on these esteemed guests & the other performers/sponsors we will have on hand this season, make sure to check out our "Guests & Performers" webpage: http://takii.pdnmz.com/guests_performers.html.

Someone once asked us "how do you guys manage to get such a variety of guests & performers each season?" We replied to that individual by simply saying, "They want to come to TAKII for the fans & to get exposed to the extreme brand of celebratory excitement we are all known & loved for." Whether you attend for our Asian-themed "straight talk", or come to experience "change you can believe in", we promise you....with TAKII 6, "you ain't seen nothin' yet!"

TAKII 6 ~NintenDecision 2008~ is a FREE, 2-day, dual-venue Asian culture fusion festival in Philadelphia, PA on Oct. 25th-26th, 2008. Promoting "hardcore fun for all ages" & election awareness this season, we kick the weekend-long celebration off at TAKII HQ (the official website) on Day 1 & continue the party at The Rotunda (the physical venue in Philly) on Day 2. Featuring a TAKII-style focus on the US Presidential Election, an unprecedented tribute to the Nintendo empire, & the premier broadcast of TAKII's Asian Multimedia Entertainment Network (AMEN), "taking it to the extreme" has never been so sinfully satisfying. So what are you waiting for? Let's get this party started!!
