Two major productions underway to be licensed at Mipcom 2008
(Chicago, IL) Marvin Gleicher, co - founder and former CEO of Worldwide Operations for one of America's biggest Japanese animation labels, Manga Entertainment Inc, launches Marvin Media LLC to develop, produce and license animated films to the international marketplace.
Gleicher joins Japanese animation director Keiichi Satō (Karas, Wolf's Rain, The Big O, Giant Robo) Screenwriter: Manabu Ishikawa (Fullmetal Alchemist, Mo No No Ke) Hisashi Oguchi (Bells & Whistles/ Tokyo) as producer for feature, Floating Moon, an original environmentally aware sci-fi based on Paul Kanter story due early 2010.
For Island Def Jam Music Group, Gleicher is producing an animated TV comedy “High Def”
26 eps X 30 minutes due late 2009.
Gleicher will attend this October's MIPCOM to license these two properties and looking for additional properties to produce.
In 1994, Gleicher co-founded Manga Entertainment Inc and was responsible for acquisitions, production, marketing, television, home entertainment and establishing distribution in both domestic and international markets as well as overseeing the Chicago, Tokyo, LA New York, and London offices. Some of the films he was responsible for were the original Ghost in the Shell feature film, Ninja Scroll, Blood: The Last Vampire and the original Astro Boy color TV series. He succeeded in running the whole company, making Manga Entertainment Inc, the premiere anime label in the country.
Gleicher executive produced over 17 of the Japanese animated films on the label, including Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue, Production I.G's US version of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex TV series the original StreetFighter Alpha OVA's, and Neon-Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion.
