AZN will highlight four top Asian film directors by airing their films.
The Emperor and the Assassin
Airs Tonight, October 4 @ 7pm & 12am ET
Directed by Chen Kaige (Farewell my Concubine). In pre-unified China, the King of Qin's sends his concubine to a rival kingdom to produce an assassin for a political plot, but as the King's cruelty mounts, she finds her loyalty faltering.
3-Iron
Premieres October 11 @ 7pm & 12am ET
Directed by Kim Ki Duk (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring). A transient young man breaks into empty houses to partake of the vacationing residents' lives for a few days.
One Nite in Mongkok
Airs October 18 @ 7pm & 12am ET
Directed by Tung-Shing Yee (Protégé). A street quarrel leads to the death of a gang leader's son. The next day, he seeks revenge and imports a hit man from the mainland. When word gets out to the cops about the hired killer, they open a full-scale Christmas Eve operation to find the warring gangs and the hit man.
Tachigui: The Amazing Lives of the Fast Food Grifters
Premieres October 25 @ 7pm & 12am ET
Directed by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in a Shell). Tachigui retells Japan's history, from 1945 to present, through the feats of self-proclaimed dine and dash professionals. They are phantoms that rise and fall with Japan's shifting diet-styles, dissenting heroes who carved out their names on the dark side of dietary culture with their glare.
