Sequel film opened at #2 in Japan on September 9

Indonesian film distributor Feat Pictures announced on Sunday that it will open HiGH&LOW THE WORST X (pronounced "cross"), the sequel film to the HiGH&LOW THE WORST crossover film, in Indonesia in January 2023.

The film opened in Japan on September 9. The film sold 107,000 tickets for 150 million yen (about US$1.05 million) to rank #2 in its opening weekend. The film had earned a cumulative total of 730,616,170 yen (about US$5.04 million) as of October 2.

The sequel brought back cast members from the first film. EXILE HIRO produced the sequel film, and Norihisa Hiranuma returned to direct with Daisuke Ninomiya as a general director. Masaki Suzumura was the action director, and Takahito Ouchi supervised the action. Shōichirō Masumoto, Kei Watanabe, and Hiranuma wrote the screenplay.

The HiGH&LOW THE WORST film opened in Japan in October 2019. The movie centers on a conflict between the students of Hōsen Academy from Hiroshi Takahashi's Crows and Worst manga, and the students of Oya High School from HiGH&LOW. Hōsen Academy is often called a "pack of killers," who are all bald except for their leader. Oya High School are one of five in the "SWORD" area where delinquents gather. In the film, the uneasy peace maintained by Hōsen Academy's new generation crumbles, with many gangs now seeking supremacy over one another in a new age of conflict.
